Tao Climate, an Irish ClimateTech company, has announced the launch of Tao Carbon AI, a new carbon-aware AI platform for the aviation and travel sector.
The platform enables users to calculate the carbon footprint of a journey, understand its environmental impact and purchase verified CO2 removal through a straightforward user experience. Tao Carbon AI also estimates the footprint of the AI calculation itself, with Tao Climate covering that digital footprint through verified CO2 removal at no extra cost when a customer purchases flight CO2 removal.
Tao Climate announced the launch of the new platform during a pitch to participants at the FTE (Future Travel Experience) Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub meeting held yesterday at NovaUCD as part of the APEX FTE EMEA conference.
Unlike traditional carbon calculators, Tao Carbon AI uses natural language and voice inputs to help users measure travel emissions in seconds. Users can simply type or speak routes such as “Dublin to New York” and receive an instant carbon footprint assessment, along with the option to purchase verified CO2 removal. In addition, the platform estimates the AI and cloud computing footprint of the calculation itself, making the product carbon-aware by design.
Tao Carbon AI has been designed for both direct consumer use and enterprise integration through secure APIs, allowing airlines, airports and travel platforms to embed carbon intelligence and verified CO2 removal directly into customer journeys. This creates an opportunity for travel companies to turn sustainability from a compliance challenge into a trusted customer experience and ancillary revenue opportunity.

Tao Climate is a client company of the ESA BIC (Business Incubation Centre) Ireland initiative at NovaUCD in Dublin. ESA BIC Ireland supports Irish companies across the business spectrum that are using space technology and data.
