We are pleased to share that:

Our correspondence and recommendations regarding the proposed changes to Irish citizenship rules were formally considered by the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Migration at its meeting on 22 September 2026.

The Committee has officially noted our submission and would take into consideration while drafting proposed new legislation.

This is an important step in ensuring that the Irish Association of International Doctor's Concerns are heard at the national level.

Thank you to everyone who signed, shared and supported this campaign.

We will continue advocating for a fair and inclusive citizenship system.

*⏳️Urgent Call to All Medical Professionals*⌛️

The proposed increase in Ireland’s citizenship residence requirement from five to eight years will have serious consequences for international healthcare professionals, their families and the future of Ireland’s health service.

We urge all doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals, regardless of nationality or immigration status, to stand together and sign this petition.

Your signature will strengthen our collective voice and help demonstrate the healthcare community’s opposition to this disproportionate and damaging proposal.

We were honored to represent the Irish Association of International Doctors (IAID) at the Pakistan Azadi Mela 2026, a very vibrant celebration hosted by the Pakistani diaspora in Ireland.
During the event, the Pakistan Overseas Community (POC) formally recognized IAID’s dedicated service, presenting a Certificate of Appreciation and a Shield to IAID’s President, Dr. Liqa ur Rehman. The award was graciously presented by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Daryl Barron.
The POC specifically highlighted IAID’s leadership in driving the historic, successful campaign for Fast Access Stamp 4 for international doctors and advocacy for working rights for their spouses, a milestone achieved through relentless advocacy and community engagement.
Thank you to the POC Ireland leadership and the diaspora for this meaningful recognition. Milestones like this fuel our mission as we continue working together for the betterment of all communities in Ireland.
