🏐 Leitrim Youth Volleyball Club Post 🏐
We have some bittersweet news to share with everyone in the club.

As our incredible 2026 season comes to a close, it is time to say a massive thank you and a very fond farewell to one of our star players.

Africa Velesej is heading back home to Madrid after finishing her year here in Ireland.
Africa, you have been an absolutely amazing addition to our U18 girls team this year! Wearing the N13 jersey with pride, your talent, energy, and dedication brought so much to the squad, and you will be deeply missed by all your teammates, parents, coaches, and the entire Leitrim Youth Volleyball community.

Thank you for everything you gave to the club this season. We wish you the very best of luck with your volleyball back home in Spain—Madrid is getting a fantastic player back!

Please join us in wishing Africa all the best. Safe travels, Africa! You will always have a club and a home here in Leitrim. 🇪🇸✈️🇮🇪

🏐 UNBELIEVABLE PERFORMANCE IN DRUMSHANBO! 🏐
​Huge congratulations to our Leitrim Youth U16s who took to the court today in a thrilling friendly against Mayo! Our teens showed incredible skill, a fierce competitive attitude, and pure power from the first serve to the final whistle.

🏆 Leitrim Youth 3 : 1 Mayo

​A massive achievement for our beginners! The hard work during training at the Mayflower is clearly paying off. A huge thank you to the Mayo team for making the trip to Drumshanbo and providing such a high-spirited match.

🏐 Match Report: Mohill Friendly Invitational 🏐
What a fantastic day of volleyball we had in Mohill on April 6th! Our Leitrim Youth (LY) squads hosted the Cavan Cats for a series of friendly matches that showcased incredible spirit, teamwork, and rising talent from across the region.

As Club Secretary, I want to extend a massive thank you to all the players, parents, and volunteers who ensured the day ran smoothly and safely. Events like these are vital for our long-term player development here in Leitrim.

🏆 Results Summary
Morning Session: The Rising Stars
Our younger squads set a high bar early in the day with some very competitive sets.

LY Girls: A clean sweep! The girls showed clinical precision, winning all three of their matches against the Cavan Cats Girls.
Squad: Africa Velesej, Yaroslava Kutsehub, Maria Byelyakova, Inha Stoianova, Mirra Bierova, Yuliia Konovalchuk.
Win/Loss Ratio: 3:0.

LY Scouts: Our beginners showed immense grit. After a tough opening set, they bounced back to win two incredibly tight matches.
Squad: Sofiia Makarenko, Toni O'Looney, Giuliana Keane, Mia Sutherland, Sofiia Shulik, Eros Cliquet Simoes, and Gerald Casey.
Win/Loss Ratio: 2:1.

Afternoon Session: Senior & Mixed Play
The intensity ramped up after lunch as our U20s and Mixed teams took to the court.

LY U20s: Performed strongly with solid wins over the Cavan Cats Mixed and LY Mixed teams.
Squad: Mykyta Khabibullin, Stanislav Rybalchenko, Anton Bierov, Savva Bierov, Yurii Virstiuk, and Africa Veselej
Win/Loss Ratio: 2:2.

LY Mixed: Secured a thrilling 28-26 victory over Cavan Cats Mixed – easily the most intense set of the afternoon!
Squad: Dina Ozola, Mukola Virstiuk, Dani Abbas, Yuliia Kutsehub, Ruslan Khabibullin, Oleksii Yefimov.
Win/Loss Ratio: 2:2.

Well done to everyone involved!

We are Leitrim’s newest home for youth volleyball!
Our club provides competitive and recreational play for all kids ages 6 - 18, guided by VLI-certified coaches and strict safeguarding protocols.
We are currently raising funds for hall rental costs and specialised training equipment to accommodate our growing roster. Every contribution helps us keep Leitrim’s youth active, engaged, and part of a winning team.
