Everyone should learn CPRโ€ฆ. Anyone can save a life.

โค๏ธ Today is Restart a Heart Day!

Every minute matters when someone experiences an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Starting CPR quickly can help keep blood flowing until emergency services arrive and improve a personโ€™s chance of survival dramatically.

Thereโ€™s encouraging progress here in Ireland. According to the latest OHCAR Report, the rate of bystander CPR in out-of-hospital cardiac arrests increased from 60% in 2012 to 85% in 2025.

You donโ€™t need to be a healthcare professional to save a life. Learning CPR and knowing how to use an AED could help you make a life-saving difference to someone in your community.

It is deer rutting season. We advise all road users to be mindful of this fact and to watch out for deer on the roads. The breeding season โ€“ or rut โ€“ peaks during the month of October and is controlled by the length of the day. Deer can pose a danger to road users at this time due to their unpredictable nature. Take extra care when driving, especially at dusk and at dawn.

During the rutting season, deer move about and can often make their way onto the roads. Be prepared. Ensure that you are always in a position to stop suddenly should you encounter deer on the road. Reduce your speed, especially in areas where there is a warning sign for deer. Should you see a deer on the road, dip your headlights as the full beam may cause them to freeze.

If you are involved in road traffic collision involving a deer or if you witness such an incident, you are advised to contact Gardaรญ immediately.
