IMPORTANT: Action Needed today on Part 8 process for the road in the village centre.

Dear Delgany Resident,

If you made a submission you need to confirm it today (20 submissions that were made have not been confirmed).
If you didn't make a submission you can still do so, details are below. The part 8 plan is supported by Delgany Community Council, Delgany Tidy Towns and the Delgany Village Businesses.

Wicklow County Council is re‑running the Part 8 process for the Convent Road scheme, (due to an error on their side) we are asking everyone who made a submission during the original Part 8 to email WCC and request that your previous submission be carried forward into the new consultation period, which closes TODAY.

Submissions will not automatically roll over — they must be re‑confirmed.

Please send a short message to:
[email protected]

With the heading:
Recommencement of Part 8 Procedure – Convent Road Active Travel Scheme Delgany

Below is a draft message you can copy and paste into your email to WCC:

Draft message to WCC

Dear Active Travel Team,

I am writing to confirm that I wish my original submission for the Part 8 – Convent Road Active Travel Scheme, Delgany, to be carried forward and included in the rerun of the Part 8 process.

Please ensure my previous submission is counted in the recommenced consultation.

Kind regards,

Your Name

FURTHER INFORMATION:
For anyone who has not yet made a submission: The plan, as well as full reports on all of the alternatives that were considered, is available in the Consultation hub on Wicklow County Council’s website: https://www.wicklow.ie/Living/Services/Online-Consultation-Hub/Convent-Road-Active-Travel-Scheme-Part-8
The key document to look at is the Convent Road Preferred Option, this is the one that was selected when all of the alternatives had been fully evaluated. It will show you how the road layout will change.

Submissions may be made by email via the following address: [email protected] or on the online website
Submissions and observations should be clearly marked ā€œConvent Road Active Travel Scheme Part 8ā€. Closing date is July 30th.
Submissions should be written in your own words, they do not have to be long or complicated. They can be as simple as "please add more accessible parking spaces" or even just expressing your support for the plan or asking a question about it.

Kind Regards

Delgany Community Council and Delgany Tidy Towns

17/06/2026

Wicklow County Council has confirmed to DCC that the Part 8 process for the Convent Road/Village Traffic proposal will be restarted following an administrative delay with the previous Chief Executive’s Report. The preliminary report which was filed at the end of May and widely publicised was not submitted in its final form by the required deadline.

DCC notes this development, and is asking to rally the public support from the initial submission process again for this second round. WCC will be emailing all previous submission participants to ask if they want their submission carried forward, but you can also submit your support separately again. It is also important to highlight that the vast majority of submissions in the previous consultation were positive and supported the proposed layout.

DCC remains committed to the cul‑de‑sac design, which offers clear community benefits — reducing through‑traffic, improving pedestrian safety, and helping to protect the character of Delgany village.

As the process begins again, we encourage residents to re‑engage with the consultation link below and to restate their support for a design that enhances safety and preserves the unique character of Delgany. Local businesses and residents have shown continued support for this Cul De Sac design. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your submission. Thank you for taking the time to reconfirm your previous submission.

Details of the recommenced Part 8 procedure, including the relevant documentation and consultation dates, are available at -
