‘Words by the Sea’ ArtNetdlr Open Mic night returns this Wednesday!

Phil Lynch will host and read from his own work, followed by an open mic for all.

Upstairs in Walters, Dun Laoghaire

Sign up from 6.45 and starts around 7pm. Readers will have a maximum of 5 minutes each which could be a few short poems or your own songs, spoken word or one longer piece or flash fiction, about 800 words of prose. It’s always a great night filled with poetry & music, and the most supportive audience. Listeners are just as welcome as performers!

ArtNetdlr Open Mic – poetry, prose, spoken word and music night on the second Wednesday of each month upstairs at Walters, Dun Laoghaire.

We’re getting closer to Plein Air weekend in Dillon’s Park Dalkey. Saturday and Sunday 26th and 27th September from 10am to 4pm.

A series of poetry workshops in which poet Nessa O’Mahony explores the relationship between the writer and their local waterway as a source of inspiration, consolation and recuperation. The workshops will be made up of six sessions, over 8 weeks, starting on Monday 21st September and finishing on November 9th and will consist of a combination of writing exercises, reading and discussion.

Nessa O’Mahony was born in Dublin. She has published six books of poetry – Bar Talk, (1999), Trapping a Ghost (2005), In Sight of Home (2009), Her Father’s Daughter (2014) and The Hollow Woman on the Island (2019) and Dodder Daughter, which was published in April 2026. She has edited journals and anthologies, including the Poetry Ireland Review Issue 138 tribute to Eavan Boland, and writes fiction and non-fiction. She is an associate lecturer with The Open University and has a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing from the University of Wales, Bangor.
