🌍 Representation from across Ireland!
A fantastic turnout from 16 counties, including Cork, Mayo, Galway, Donegal, Kerry, Leitrim, Sligo, Clare and many more. 💪💛
Thank you to everyone who travelled, stood together, and raised their voices. 🙌

🙏 Our thanks go to those within the Transport Committee and relevant Departments who ensured the topic was placed on the agenda, facilitated meetings, and engaged constructively with us throughout the day. Your time and willingness to listen made a real difference. 🤝

👏 Special appreciation to local representatives who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds of peaceful protesters for the entire event. Your solidarity did not go unnoticed. 💯

🌱 Our position remains clear:
We are not opposed to greenways.
We support community-led amenities, the protection of property rights, and the mental health and wellbeing of landowners. 💚

Greenways should be built with communities, not imposed on them. Local voices must shape local projects. 🗣️❤️

🚫🏞️ For these reasons, we believe Compulsory Purchase Orders should NOT be part of greenway projects.
Partnership, respect, and collaboration must come first.

💬 Thank you to everyone continuing to stand with us.
The conversation is only beginning – and together, we’re stronger. 💪✨

🆓 Common Sense Costs Nothing — So Why Are We Wasting Millions? 💶💶

You know what? We’d have no problem at all if the authorities came out tomorrow and said:
“We’ve got this wrong. We ignored the most important stakeholders - the landowners - and we need to start afresh, this time focusing on routes along public land.”

We’d actually thank them for it. 👏 👏 Because admitting a mistake and changing course isn’t weakness - it’s leadership.

Before racing ahead into another multi-million euro project, how about asking the simplest question of all - is this even needed?

We’ve seen it all around the country:
➡️ In Belclare to Murrisk (Mayo), they had a route selected - then scrapped it - and now the “new” plan could see CPO and the demolition of 44 homes!!
➡️ Every one of the 12 other greenway groups we met last week had the same story:
❌ Doors slammed shut when they tried to engage
❌ Land taken by CPO but landowners still awaiting payment….years later
❌ “Consultations” that were a tick-box exercise ……
We could go on… and on… and on.

Meanwhile, across Ireland, bureaucracy and politics are winning - while common sense and fairness lose, time & time again! 😡😡

Let’s stop this madness. Let’s listen to the people actually affected - the real stakeholders - and make decisions that reflect the country’s real priorities:
🏠 Fixing the housing crisis
🏥 Properly funding our hospitals and healthcare system
🚔 Tackling rising crime and protecting communities
🎓 Addressing accommodation shortages for third-level students

Because honestly - when so much needs fixing in this country, do we really think spending millions on greenways through private land is what Ireland needs right now? 🤔

💔 It’s hard enough fighting the system - without being knocked down by harsh words from others!!🥺

At the National Greenways meeting last week, beyond the message, there was a powerful and painful theme - the hate and abuse faced by ordinary people who’ve had the courage to defend their homes and their land across the country 😮

Regrettably, we’ve also experienced similar behaviours this year, aimed at ordinary people who are doing nothing more than standing up for their community, their neighbours, and their future.

Behind the scenes, there are several people working tirelessly on behalf of everyone. They don’t do it for credit. They don’t do it for recognition…..and they certainly don’t do it for political gain.

💚They do it because they care.
❌Because they believe what’s happening is wrong.
🏡Because they want to protect the Cooley Peninsula - the place they call home.

So to those who choose to mock, abuse, undermine their efforts, or accuse them of scaremongering - maybe take a moment to stop and think 🤔. These people aren’t fighting for themselves. They’re fighting for YOU, for the young and the old, for the current generation and the ones still to come.

If they don’t stand up in this campaign, WHO WILL?

✊ Respect those who care enough to fight for you & your community - even when it’s not easy.

📢 Next stop....Leinster House!

Last Thursday, in Portlaoise, community representatives from across Ireland gathered...from Sligo to Louth, Galway to Kerry and many places in between.

13 areas from around the country spoke about their growing concern on how greenway projects are being advanced without meaningful consultation and transparency.

Landowners spoke of the stress and uncertainty caused by the threat of losing private property, and shared calls for a transparent and balanced approach that respects rural livelihoods as well as tourism development.

Michael Collins TD told attendees that he will raise their concerns at national level and confirmed his plans to bring Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) before the Oireachtas Transport Committee. The hearing aims to provide an opportunity to hold TII to account on issues of transparency, consultation, and the use of CPOs for Greenways.

Everyone made it clear they support greenway development in principle, but voiced strong opposition to the use of CPOs for non-essential infrastructure. The meeting ended with a call for national solidarity among landowners and a renewed commitment from Deputy Collins to advocate on their behalf at the highest political level.

🔥 Pride, Legacy, and Future Generations - It’s time everyone got involved ✊

To those sitting back and watching… to those who haven’t got involved yet… to those who think someone else will do it - this is YOUR call.

The greenway routes might not be through your land TODAY, but after the stories we’ve heard from across the country this week, we know anything is possible. 😡

This is about more than just land.
💚 It’s about community spirit.
💚 It’s about supporting your family, your friends, your neighbours.
💚 It’s about showing PRIDE in the peninsula and protecting what makes it home.

We need to stand together - not just for ourselves, but for the generations that will come after us. Let’s create a legacy we can hand over with pride. Let’s show the next generation that it’s ok to stand up for what is yours.

✊ The time for watching is over – the time for action is NOW.
