Leamlara Preservation Group

Leamlara Preservation Group We support renewable energy and a greener Ireland, but the transition must be done responsibly.

It must be plan-led, guided by clear government policy, regulated, protecting agricultural land, safeguarding food security, and respecting rural communities.

Another example of the droning inverter noise we can expect daily from living next door to these hundreds of acres of solar panels🤯.

Very scary graphic showing the existing and planned wind farms in Ireland. We know the Cork area, and East Cork in particular, is being saturated with solar developments, but this is happening with renewables on a national scale.
Our rural landscape and identity will be forever changed if we don’t speak up now!!

🚨 LOOK AT THIS MAP 🚨
Every marker represents an existing or proposed wind farm in Ireland- and this isn't even the full picture... 🤯

⚠️ In 2019, draft Wind Energy Development Guidelines were published which included stronger noise protections for communities, which would have been consistent with the WHO Environmental Noise Guidelines.(2018)

⚠️ In 2021, Eamon Ryan wrote to Darragh O'Brien seeking a move away from that approach after a Government-commissioned spatial study found that WHO 2018 would significantly reduce the amount of land available for wind farm development - making 2030 onshore wind targets impossible to achieve.

The guidelines were reopened.

Then, in March this year, Micheál Martin stated that publishing the long-awaited guidelines would restrict onshore wind development.

That tells you everything.

❓❓ So the HEALTH of rural Ireland is expected to be sacrificed in order to meet a 2030 onshore wind target?

Really?

Look at this map again.

If Micheál Martin and Darragh O'Brien get their way, this is only the beginning.

☘️ The Ireland we know today could be transformed into an industrial energy landscape within a generation.

⛔ Rural communities should not be sacrificed to facilitate an endless rollout of wind farms across Ireland.

Well said!👏🏻👏🏻 Pushing through these projects and trying to limit the taxpayer’s right to fairly challenge them does not sound like the democracy weren’t meant to be living in.

If only we had an Erin Brockovich in Ireland.....

Per datacentremap.com Ireland is home to approximately 129 data centres as we stand mid way through 2026. We see the electricity and water demands of these AI driven data centres yet we see no regulation, no governmental report on the impact of these data centres on people, electricity, water etc.

And the government continue to push BESS, solar, wind, biogas farms all over rural Ireland - in the name of "climate action" and "energy security". Along with a project to move water from the Shannon to a reservoir in Dublin. The country cousins must help the city cousins. PULL THE OTHER ONE!!!! This is not for our fellow human beings. This is to feed the 97+ data centres pushed on our friends in Dublin.

How should we tackle an environmental crisis? By reducing our footprint on the planet, not increasing it. Everyone needs to wake up to this.

Similar to the climate targets the government has signed us up to and are now forcing through without sufficient regulation, they’re also committing to nature restoration targets without a sufficient budget. Communities and the humble taxpayer will pay the price!

We have several species of bird found in our area that are listed as endangered. Removing their habitat and disrupting the ecosystem in the name of “green” energy is the opposite of preserving our planet.

We need to stand up for nature and for our home. Please support us if you can:

Millions of acres of farmland are being covered with solar panels, while vast car parks sit exposed to the sun all day.
