The Bandon Tractor, Truck & car run which took place on Sunday January 18th this year presented the proceeds of this year’s run to three very deserving local charities on Saturday night last 28th February in an event held the The Coppergrove Bandon. The event was m.c’d by Ger Seaman. The first speaker was organiser Mrs Jean Deane whom thanked everyone for attending and also thanked everyone that supported the run on the day and thanked the local business community for their support on the build up to the event with sponsorship. Jean then outlined the recipients of this year’s run whom were Bandon Athletic Club, Bandon Special Olympics & The Bandon community first responder Group. A large crowd were in attendance. Jean outlined that each nominated charity would receive 3700 euro each which was then handed over. The Bandon Athletic club was represented by Brendan Crowley whom spoke of the help these funds raised to facilitate the building of the new sports complex in Bandon and thanked the organisers for their support over the last number of years. Willie Buckley spoke on behalf of the Bandon Special Olympics committee and again outlined where the funds were going and showing the groups new teamwear which the proceeds of last years run purchased. He outlined the work the group are involved in and the fact that three club members will be competing in this years special Olympics. Marion McSweeney spoke on behalf of the Bandon Community first responder group and outlined the work of the group and that the ongoing fundraising supports the work of the group and helping the community by purchasing defibrilllators for the community.
Bandon tractor, truck & Car run is organised by the extended Deane family with help from local volunteers. The run would like to sincerely thank Bandon Marts for the use of their grounds, The Gardai Bandon for their help, The Local business community as well as all the attendees on the day
