A week ago today, I laid to rest the love of my life. My Mick. My everything.
I still don't believe it's real. I know it isāI was there, I felt the cold of that day, I watched them lower him into the ground. But my heart? My heart is still waiting for him to walk through the door. Still reaching for his hand in the dark. Still expecting to hear that voiceājust 12 seconds, God, just 12 secondsāone more time.
Mick and I built something fierce. We weren't perfect, but we were real. Straight-talking, no-filter, ride-or-die real. We could be jealous as hell and laugh about it five minutes later. We could fight like enemies and love like teenagers. He was stubborn, maddening, brilliant, and the most ridiculous man I ever metāand I wouldn't have changed a single damn thing about him.
Together, we built this. Straight up, from nothing. With sweat, with tears, with arguments at 2am and high-fives at sunrise. We made something that mattered. And we made it ours.
So here's the thingāStreet Angels will still go strong. Every Monday night. That was our baby, and it's still alive. I have the most incredible team standing beside me, people who believe in what we built and will carry it forward with pride. They'll do me proud. They'll do him proud.
But for now, I need to step back. My heart is shattered in a way I didn't know was possible. I can't lead like I usually do. I can't be the loudest voice in the room. Not yet. Maybe not for a while.
So I'm handing the reins to my volunteers. They know the mission. They know the heart behind it. They know what Mick would expectāand they'll deliver.
To everyone who has shown up, who has held us, who has sent love and lightāthank you. Please keep showing up for them. Keep showing up for each other. And if you believe in anything at all, say a prayer, light a candle, or just send a thought up to the sky for my Mick.
Because 2026? That's still our year. It has to be. We set it in motion together, and I'll be damned if I let it stop now. I'll find my way back. I just need time.
Until thenākeep the Angels flying.
I see you, my beloved Mick. Always.
And forever in my heart.
