💶💶💶 The government now wants to make it super expensive (>€100,000) for ordinary people to go to court to protect the environment..

‼️Making environmental court actions prohibitively expensive would deny ordinary people access to justice …

💶Environmental protection is a public interest matter and must NOT be placed beyond legal challenge through excessive financial risk.

MESSAGE FROM FRED LOGUE PhD MIEIA Cenv
"Financial barriers to environmental litigation are illegal, because protecting the environment is an important public interest.
The government now wants to make it super expensive (>€100,000) for ordinary people to go to court to protect the environment.
The Government is currently engaged in an extremely short consultation on proposed rules to cap legal costs when you go to court and hold the state to account for breaking environmental law. In effect they want you to pay hundreds of thousands of Euros should you choose to do this.
If you think this is wrong, make your views known by emailing [email protected] by 15 January.

The consultation document can be viewed here https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-climate-energy-and-the-environment/consultations/consultation-on-the-regulation-of-costs-payable-in-matters-prescribed-on-foot-of-section-295-of-the-planning-and-development-act-2024-scale-of-fees/.
Submissions could be brief and simply remind Government that the proposed cost regulations would fly in the face of and totally undermine it's obligations under the Aarhus convention and existing EU law, and are will inevitably be contested all the way to the European Court of Justice

‼️Irish households pay €360 more per year for electricity than western European average 📈

While many EU states saw rapid price declines after the 2022 peak caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Irish prices did not fall to the same degree”

Electricity costs are dramatically outpacing both inflation and what our western EU neighbours are facing.

The Irish government are blatantly going to make us liable for fines as high as €28 billion.

We know it'll be ordinary people that are made foot the bill.

Meanwhile, Big Tech continues to use more and more of our energy, while household energy bills continue to balloon!

Offaly Councillors call for HSE to examine health effects of Wind Farms

📢THE COUNCILLORS of Offaly County Council have called upon the Health Service Executive to examine the health implications of Wind Farms in Offaly.

Limerick TD speaks out on health implications of wind energy (article : Limerickpost.ie)

‼️He also claimed that “the wind turbines that have gone up to date never involved health organisations. The HSE was not involved in the planning applications of the ones that exist. They are ignoring the health implications.”

Private Wires will not help the environment.
Private Wires is an industry-driven agenda.

CEPA Communities & Environmental Protection Alliance

Government approval of the General Scheme of the Private Wires Bill is welcome - it's an important reform that will help accelerate renewable energy generation and unlock private investment in electricity infrastructure.

The new framework will allow private electricity connections in clearly defined and tightly regulated circumstances, supporting renewables, energy storage, EV charging and economic development, while protecting the integrity of the national grid.

This is a pragmatic reform that will help relieve pressure on the grid, encourage innovation and support Ireland's clean energy transition, while ensuring strong oversight, safety and consumer protection. The national grid must remain the backbone of our energy system, and this legislation ensures private wires complement, rather than undermine, its development.

The draft Bill and a detailed implementation plan will return to Government in Q1 2026.
