We would like to take this opportunity to wish Martin Downey all the best in his next chapter.
We are fortunate to have an National Ambulance Service (NAS) base in Clonakilty with dedicated caring crews, thank you Martin Downey for the care, compassion and dedication you gave to patients and their families down through the years.

Paramedic Martin Downey, Clonakilty has retired from the National Ambulance Service.

Martin served at Clonakilty Ambulance Base for over 21 years having previously served as a Fire Fighter with Clonakilty Fire Service for 18 years, a remarkable dedication to the emergency services in West Cork.

Pictured with Martin on his final day at work are Kevin O’Sullivan, HSE Ambulance Service, Olive Murphy, Des Grennan, Terry Phair and Martin Haughney.

Ordinary people can become the first link in a lifesaving response meaning community resuscitation is the vital initial response before the ambulance arrives

Thank you so much to everyone Clonakilty Community Resource Centre for the generous support, much appreciated and will be evident in our community. Thanks to Caroline and Sinéad Crowley and everyone who contributed.

Our sincere thanks to Chairperson, Noel White, of Clonakilty Area Community First Responders Group for visiting us here in the Centre recently.

Speaking about this wonderful voluntary group, Noel told us about the services they are providing in the community and reminded people to always ring 999 or 112 in an emergency. He also advised us to know our Eircode or have it in a location we can easily access.

A donation was made to the Group on behalf of the Centre which included contributions from our visitors and friends too.

Best wishes to all the volunteers involved and thank you for what you are doing 💚❤️

With the good weather forecast for the next few days and the probability of a busy Inchydoney beach, Inchydoney Lifeboat " Réalt na hInse " will carry out water patrols between 14.00 and 19.00 today, in line with crew availability.
Please be aware there will be no Lifeguards on duty until the weekend , which means no flags, no Lifeguard presence on the east or west beaches, no first aid at the Lifeguard station which will be closed.
Inchydoney Lifeboats IRB (Inshore Rescue Boat) will patrol and offer advice to swimmers, whom we consider to be in possible danger or areas unsuited to swimming.
Please follow this advice in the interest of water safety for all.
Please do not swim in the eastern or western channels.
Inflatables are not welcome at Inchydoney.
Please supervise children around the water.
Let's all enjoy the good weather, water and beach safely.
If you see anyone in trouble at the coast or in the water do not hesitate to dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
Safety 1st always on or near the water.
