Strokes are a medical emergency, and urgent treatment is essential. The sooner a person gets treatment for a stroke, the less damage is likely to happen. If you think you or someone else is having a stroke, dial 999 or 112 immediately.

Community First Responders play a vital role in supporting patients and communities, particularly in rural areas where they are often thefirst on scene in an emergency.

We’re delighted to see the incredible work of volunteers highlighted in this feature from the Irish Farmers Journal, following the tragic loss of Gerry O’Donnell in a farm accident.

A powerful reminder of the difference CFRs make every day. Thank you to all our CFR volunteers for the time, commitment and care you give to your communities.

Ahead of tomorrow's Leaving Cert results, we're appealing to parents to talk to your child about being sensible when it comes to alcohol, drugs and going out.

While we want everyone to enjoy themselves and the celebrations, it's important to be safe - make sure they've made a plan for getting home, that they know to never drive under the influence, to stay with their friends while out and to call 999 in an emergency, no matter what has happened.

A partial solar eclipse will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 12 August.
Looking directly at the sun can cause serious and permanent eye damage. If you plan to view the eclipse, always use certified solar eclipse glasses or a solar viewer and make sure children are supervised.
Ordinary sunglasses are not safe for viewing an eclipse. Never look directly at the sun through binoculars or a telescope.
Protect your eyes and enjoy the eclipse safely.

Members of Fermoy CFR group met Carol who suffered a cardiac arrest this day two weeks ago. Because of the swift actions of a Community First Responder (CFR) scheme, Carol has made a remarkable recovery. It really emphasises the positive impact of early CPR, defibrillation, and teamwork, transforming training and volunteer commitment into a life saved.

We're experiencing a high volume of emergency calls as we continue through the busy summer period.

Our incredible ambulance crews, call-takers and support staff are working around the clock to respond to those who need us most.

You can help by only calling in a real emergency. If your condition is not life-threatening, consider contacting your GP, local pharmacy, GP Out of Hours service or attending an Injury Unit where appropriate.

If you do need to call 999 or 112, please stay calm, answer the call taker's questions and follow any instructions they provide. This helps us get the right care to the right patient as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as our teams continue to provide emergency care across the country.
