Ardán is a five day camp for Scouts (12-15 years old).

The camp focuses on Scout pioneering and engineering skills to complete large scale projects by the end of camp.

Coming to you from 2nd mayo, we would like to introduce our Co catering team lead. Sarah Geraghty.
“ I have been in scouts 11 years, since beavers. The thing I am looking forward to on ardan is meeting new people and seeing what the pioneering team build. My favourite part of camps are singing songs around the campfire. A fun fact about me is I love art almost as much as I love Scouts, and I used my happy memories from past Ardán camps as my theme or my Leaving Cert art portfolio.”

Introducing our next team lead, the man keeping us rolling, and all our papers in order our admin team lead, Sean McCormack.

“I am the Venture section lead of 26th Galway Kilcoona. I have done two stints as camp chief for Ardán, and have the grey hair to prove it! I’m always willing to give things a go. Which is why I have found myself on the Pioneering team. You may remember me from such catchphrases as ‘Scouts and Scouters, today we’re looking at....’ “

From the not so far away 1st/11th Roscommon, Boyle scout group. We would like to introduce our Large Scale Project Team Lead, Patrick McDonagh.

“I have been in scouts for 10 years this year - I joined as a adult with my kids one of which will be Ardan staff this year ! What I’m looking forward to this year on Ardán is meeting old and new participants, spending 5 days in the outdoors and learning lots of new skills. I love to be busy on camps and that always happens on camp. The best bit is rolling into your sleeping bad tired but happy. My fun fact is that this is my third Ardan and I am going to host a Pioneering skill in the World Scout Jamboree in Poland next year.”

We would like to introduce our first team lead for Ardán 2026. Adam Kavanagh as our co- catering team lead and the team lead for evening programme

“Hi my name is Adam Kavanagh, I joined 12th Wexford Ballykelly as a beaver in 2010, 16 years going strong! I am really looking forward to 3 days of gourmet burnt sausages and questionable tea on Ardán.
My favourite part of a camp is making a show of myself at a campfire. I’m also a Sea scout with 1st Wexford New Ross Sea Scouts “

Ardán is a five day pioneering standing camp for Scouts taking place in Lough Keel, Co Roscommon from the 22-26th July 2026. There will be an additional setup day for staff on the 21st. In the case of a large number of staff applications, previous experience will be a plus, so do mention this in your application. If you are applying for a large scale pioneering team position, you must have a stage 4 pioneering badge at minimum, with a preference for 5 as you will need these skills to participate. You will have opportunity to progress to higher levels and get assessed on camp. Welfare requires a REC3 minimum, preferably with Emergencies 6. Team leads are in place and we are ready to go!

This weekend Ardán held an advanced course that covered the technical aspects of Stage 8 Pioneering. But more that that we got professional training on ascending to install anchors, belaying and horizontal safety lines. As well as Ardán staff, some of the Scouting Ireland Pioneering Adventure Skill team attended. The course was better than expected and we have great ideas for even better things for this years Ardán. Remember bookings are currently open, and as patrols are made at camp, you only need a scout or two to apply.
