Cór Lae Nua

Cór Lae Nua Cór Lae Nua is a Cork-based female voice chamber choir under the direction of Ms Gemma Magner Since then, the choir has gone from strength to strength.

Cór Lae Nua was born in August 2016 when a small group of friends and experienced choral singers took the plunge and set up our own choir. Cór Lae Nua's first ever public performance was at the Service for Pregnancy and Infant Loss in the Sacred Heart Church. It was such an privilege to be asked to provide the music for such a moving service. Over the Festive Season 2016, the choir gave two Carol

Services in the Cork University Maternity Hospital. In February 2017, we took part in our first competition in Feis Maitiu where we received a Highly Commended certificate and in March 2017 we took part in the Sacred Music competition at the Limerick Choral Festival where, to our joy, we were awarded 2nd place. The choir was delighted to round up what has been a wonderful first year in May 2017 by competing at the AIMS Choral Festival in New Ross where we were awarded second place in the chamber choir competition. We look forward to many happy years singing, competing and performing together.

Thrilled to have won the Dr Patrick McCormack Perpetual Trophy for the best acappella performance of the Limerick Choral Festival and not to boast but this isn’t the first time our name will be on this trophy 😊.

We were equally thrilled to come second in the Sacred Music competition 🎉.

On International Women's Day it was lovely for our all female choir and our conductor Gemma Magner Soprano to win this prize with a piece by a female composer, Alleluia by Amy F. Bernon.

We are delighted to have been invited back to take part in the Annual Christmas Concert in Blarney on the 14th of December at 4.00 along with Gemma Magner Soprano Jo Ann O’Connor and special guest uilleann piper, Tomás Walsh!

Road trip!! We had what’s becoming our annual outing to the gorgeous Gougane Barra Hotel this weekend where we were warmly welcomed and entirely spoiled by Neil and Katy. We were delighted to spend the day singing with our old friend Nicholas and also had the pleasure of singing in the beautiful oratory. Surprise surprise we’ve already booked to come back again next year!
