Soon we won’t recognise the area we call home, it will turn into an industrial zone and be ruined for generations. Wildlife lost, homes devalued, no more peaceful countryside, instead the hum of inverters and the glare of black glass.

Planning permission has been granted for yet another solar development — this one spanning 8.85 hectares just 2km north of Midleton. With the sheer number of projects already approved or in the pipeline, it’s starting to feel like the area is being completely overrun. At this rate, a drive from Rathcormac to Midleton will soon feel less like a rural journey and more like passing through an endless stretch of industrial-scale solar developments.
