Thanks to the generosity of Ahakista community and friends we now have a total of €7,232 in our iDonate account. The building of the Community Centre cannot be completed, however, until we reach the target of €50,000. So, if you have been thinking of contributing but have not yet got around to it, now might be a good time: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/ACABuildingFund
There is also a cash bucket in Arundels by the Pier. Many thanks.

Well, that was a night, that was! Huge thanks to the hilarious Barbara Scully who had us all in stitches recounting her granny-knickered adventures. Thanks also to Arundels by the Pier for hosting the event as well as donating to the raffle. And even more thanks to the generous audience who bought raffle tickets galore. The entire proceeds of €1100 go to the Ahakista Community Centre building fund. Now, there's a friend of Ahakista! We should probably award her the freedom to graze her sheep anywhere she wants - if she had sheep.

If you need a dig out, just ask a Sea Scout. The Sheep's Head Sea Scouts came to our rescue, big time, yesterday. They raised €1,356.50!!!!!! for the Ahakista Community Centre build with not one but two Cake Sales outside Durrus and Kilcrohane churches. We are beside ourselves with gratitude and admiration.
The iDonate total now stands at €5741.50. If you feel moved to contribute: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/ACABuildingFund

Three weeks into fundraising and we've raised €2,185 towards our target of €50,000. We still have a way to go but these donations represent a cheering level of goodwill in our small community towards the building of the new community centre. The total cost of phase one of the build (see architect's impression, below) will be €170,000. The Ahakista Community Association has contributed €120,000 and so the shortfall is €50,000. To donate, please go to: idonate.ie/fundraiser/ACABuildingFund or contact a member of the committee. Fundraising ideas are also always welcome.
