Ellen Hutchins was a late 17th Century botanist that hailed from, and worked in the Bantry area.
In her short life she identified and illustrated hundreds of species of seaweeds, lichens, mosses and the like.
Her work is still celebrated today and provides an invaluable resource for comparison of the effects of agriculture and climate change on biodiversity.
As part of heritage week we are thrilled to lend our window space to display an art installation by the talented Tina Whelan. It showcases the cast hands of a kerry botanist Jessica Hamiliton, showing the legacy of Ellen's work.

We are at the August Bank Holiday weekend!
Thank you Bantry townsfolk and visitors alike for your support for our iconic €2 sale.
Due to an amazing clearout sale we are ready to restock.
If you find yourself at a lose end on your wet ☔️ Bank holiday Sunday and want to clear out some cupboards and shelves we are ready to accept all good quality resaleable bric a brac and home items.
