The heart and soul of the place, a true gentleman, and someone who gave so much to everyone around him. Always there, always steady, always looking out for others.

Peter is one of a large group of volunteers who came together to make something special happen at St Joseph's District Hospital, Ballina

The hospital has been part of the community since 1936, and dedicated volunteers of all ages and abilities, supported by Mayo Volunteer Centre, have turned up weekly with trailers, tools and smiles, giving their time to make the grounds tidy and accessible for patients, visitors and staff.

The hospital has been painted, the grotto restored and the grounds are a riot of colourful flowers. Wonderful things have happened🌸💮🪷🌹

But volunteering like this brings so many other benefits too, including friendship and connection. 💞
