On Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Five Premiere Hotel, Apple Town Samarinda hosted the prestigious 6th Apple Town Spelling Bee, featuring participants from over 30 schools across the kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and senior high levels in Samarinda.
The Apple Town Spelling Bee competition is also supported by DISDIKBUD-Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Samarinda and was attended by Mr. Barlin Hady Kesuma, S.Pd., M.Ed., who opened the event and officially inaugurated this prestigious competition.
Mr. Barlin Hady Kesuma, S.Pd., M.Ed., also noted to all parents and students that English is an international language, "we must master to compete on the global stage", he encouraged the children to learn English well and highlighted that this Spelling Bee competition offers an opportunity for them to expand their English vocabularies.
The competition features six levels: KG (Kindergarten), A1 (Grades 1–2), A2 (Grades 3–4), B1 (Grades 5–6), B2 (Grades 7–9), and C1 (Grades 10–12). While there are five winners in each level, Apple Town also recognizes all participants by presenting them with trophies, certificates, goodie bags, and etc encouraging students to remain motivated in achieving outstanding success.
We hope that the Apple Town Spelling Bee can be held annually with strong support from the diadikbud Kota Samarinda as well, also the sponsors who ensure the smooth running of the competition, thereby enabling students in Samarinda City to continuously improve their English proficiency and compete at an international level.
