A study published in the journal Addiction reveals that 21% of women and 10% of men in Generation X and the tail end of the Baby Boom generation meet criteria for addiction to ultra-processed foods. This rate is significantly higher than in older generations, likely due to their exposure to ultra-processed foods during a key developmental period. The study also found associations between ultra-processed food addiction and overweight self-perception, poor health status, and social isolation.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) adalah jenis depresi yang berulang setiap tahun pada musim tertentu, biasanya selama musim gugur dan musim dingin. Orang dengan SAD cenderung merasa lebih murung, lelah, dan kehilangan minat pada aktivitas yang biasa mereka nikmati. Gejala umum lainnya mencakup:

- Mengantuk atau kesulitan bangun di pagi hari
- Peningkatan nafsu makan, terutama mengidam karbohidrat
- Kesulitan berkonsentrasi
- Rasa putus asa atau tidak berharga

Penyebab pasti SAD tidak sepenuhnya dipahami, tetapi faktor seperti perubahan jumlah sinar matahari dan gangguan ritme sirkadian (jam biologis tubuh) dianggap berperan.
