On this International Day of Families, the Bahá’í International Community reflects on the role of the family in contributing to the betterment of society.
The family is where we first learn qualities such as justice, compassion, cooperation, and mutual support. As these qualities are nurtured within families, they extend outward into neighbourhoods, communities, and society as a whole.
This vision resonates with the Bandar Seri Begawan Declaration adopted by Member States, which stresses the importance of strengthening family–community partnerships and promoting the role of families in fostering greater unity, solidarity, and resilient communities.
As we reflect on the role of family in society, may we consider how the family unit can become a source of unity, participation, and collective well-being.
