A 50-year-old Swiss national named Robert suffered a broken leg after falling into a drainage ditch in the area of the Grand Seminyak Hotel, Sunset Road 7X, Seminyak Village, Kuta District, Badung, on Friday night (7 August).

The incident occurred at around 9:50 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA). A rescue team from the Badung Regency Fire and Rescue Service (Damkar), led by Km Dedi Saputra, immediately carried out an evacuation of the victim. The rescue operation took approximately 45 minutes before the victim was successfully removed from the drain.

The incident was reported by Rian (31), a Grab driver. After being successfully evacuated, the victim received further medical treatment. The Badung Fire and Rescue Team was responsible for both treating and evacuating the victim in the incident.

An approximately 8-metre humpback whale was found stranded near Perancak Beach, Jembrana, on Tuesday (14 July) at around 11:00 AM WITA.

Local fishermen first spotted the whale floating roughly 10 metres from shore. It was reportedly still alive, but appeared extremely weak, prompting residents to immediately alert authorities.

A joint rescue team, accompanied by veterinarians, responded to the scene and began emergency efforts to stabilize and evacuate the whale. At the time of writing, rescue operations are still underway, with hopes of returning the protected marine mammal to deeper waters.

Police have confirmed the incident, while local residents say the whale had been lingering in shallow coastal waters before attracting attention.

Whale strandings remain rare but serious events in Bali. They can be linked to a range of factors including illness, injury, disorientation, underwater noise, changing ocean conditions, or entanglement and often require rapid coordination between authorities, scientists, veterinarians, and local communities.

Sidewalks is simply for pedestrians, but as you may seen quite often, it has been temporarily repurposed by street vendors and motorcycle taxi drivers to sell goods and wait for passengers. Without causing a commotion, they chose to orderly follow instructions to clean up their wares and leave the premises peacefully. The local authorities issued an appeal for all parties to respect the function of public facilities and maintain public order.

Can we just apply ‘nyaruan desa’ and give sanctions to any tourists who do this kind of BS? As Indonesian we already know to respect the place we stepped our foot in to. Imagine every tourists stay in Balinese village are registered in the banjar where they stay and if this things happen can be processed according each banjar rule. In this case, mecaru desa and maturan guru piduka definitely can be done, and it will be good example to other so they don’t do same BS. Just an idea.
