๐Ÿšจ Solidarity with Indonesiaโ€™s Farmers & Peasant Communities ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ

The International Land Coalition stands firmly with the peasants of Aceh and communities across Indonesia facing intimidation, criminalization, and injustice in their fight for land rights.

Recent arrests and harassment of members of the Aceh Peasants Union (SETIA) are not isolated incidentsโ€”they reflect a broader, systemic pattern of agrarian conflict. Thousands of families continue to be affected by land disputes driven by large-scale plantations, infrastructure, mining, and state-backed projects.

Farmers defending their land are NOT criminals. They are stewards of food security, protectors of ecosystems, and essential to a just and sustainable future.

โœŠ We call for:

โ€ข An end to intimidation and criminalization
โ€ข Protection and safety for agrarian communities
โ€ข Independent investigations into human rights violations
โ€ข Real, meaningful agrarian reform that prioritizes people over profit

This is more than a local issue; itโ€™s a global struggle for justice, dignity, and equitable land governance!

๐ŸŒ Stand with Indonesiaโ€™s peasants. Their fight is our fight.

In December last year, matriarchs of the steppes from Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan, women herders from the burning plains of Kutch, the high mountains of Bhutan & Nepal, and the deltas of Bangladesh & Sri Lanka came to roar at the Asian Pastoralists Women Gathering in Ahmedabad, India.

150 of them, to be precise. Representing some of the most brutal ecosystems that support 500 million people and a quarter of the planetโ€™s land, they came to sign the MERA 15+ Declaration, fifteen years after signing the Mera Declaration, demanding recognition of mobility, secure grazing rights, and womenโ€™s leadership.

Today, they are pushing further.

This is their story. This is their fight.

Stand in solidarity with pastoralist sisters before the frontlines they steward go quiet.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธWebinar: Women, Land, and Climate Justice: Securing Rights for a Resilient Future

Women produce 60โ€“80% of Asiaโ€™s food, yet own less than 20% of the land. Without secure land rights, access to resources, and decision-making power, rural women remain on the frontlines of climate change, facing rising sea levels, glacier melt, floods, droughts, and deepening poverty.

This webinar highlights the struggles, leadership, and resilience of rural and Indigenous women across Asia as they confront climate change and advocate for land rights, food security, and environmental justice.

โœจ In commemoration of the International Year of Women Farmers and International Womenโ€™s Day, we celebrate the grit and strength of women farmers and land defenders shaping a more just and resilient future.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Statement of Condolence

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Erpan Faryadi bin Muhammad Isa Zain, who passed away on Sunday, 22 February 2026, at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung.

The late Brother Erpan had been receiving medical care since Friday following a stroke.

During his lifetime, he made significant contributions to the agrarian reform movement. He served as Secretary General of Konsorsium Pembaruan Agraria (2002โ€“2005) and later as Asia Coordinator of the International Land Coalition (circa 2015โ€“2016).

His passing is a great loss to the ILC Asia family and to all who worked alongside him in advancing land rights and agrarian justice.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. May they be granted strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Rest in power, Bang Erpan โœŠ๐ŸฝโœŠ๐ŸฝโœŠ๐Ÿฝ

๐ŸŒฟโœจ Where Nature Meets Community โ€” A Story of Resilience at Issyk-Kul! โœจ๐ŸŒฟ

Communities around Lake Issyk-Kul are showing the world what true resilience looks like โ€” built from the ground up. ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒฑ

With support from the Rural Development Fund and UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic, local people in Kyrgyzstan are restoring pastures, protecting forests, and reviving watersheds through the COMDEKS programme. Their work isnโ€™t just about conserving nature โ€” itโ€™s about strengthening livelihoods, reducing climate risks, and empowering communities to lead the change. ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒŽ

๐Ÿ‘‰ Healthier landscapes mean more secure water flows, reduced flood risks, and richer ecosystems โ€” all driven by local action and traditional knowledge combined with inclusive planning.

This inspiring approach proves that when people โ€” especially women, herders, and village councils โ€” are at the heart of solutions, nature and community thrive together. ๐Ÿ’š

These last three days at the Asia Pastoralist Women's Gathering in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has been a riot of colours and resistance where so many lion hearted matriarchs from the steppes of Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, high mountains of Ladakh, Kashmir, Nepal and Bhutan, coasts of Sri Lanka, deltas of Bangladesh and the salt planes of Kutch.

Let us stand in solidarity with the ones who put food on our table while stewarding the most hostile ecosystems.

To the women who hold this fragile planet in their hands!

Let's rise together for recognition!!
