The Silk Road Caravan has arrived in Kyrgyzstan!

Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing stories from pastoralist communities, ILC members, National Land Coalition Kyrgyzstan and partners taking part in this journey, exploring how mobility sustains livelihoods, connects generations and strengthens resilience.

Connecting Riyadh, host of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification COP16, with Ulaanbaatar, host of UNCCD COP17, the Caravan is a global initiative under the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026. The journey highlights the critical role of healthy rangelands in sustaining communities, biodiversity and climate resilience across the Silk Road region.

Follow along as we bring to life through the voices of pastoralists themselves.
