Remembering Elio de Angelis who left us on this day in 1986 🕊️🇮🇹
Elio de Angelis was more than a racing driver. He was a pianist, an artist, a gentleman — a rare breed even by the standards of his era.
In 1984, aboard the iconic black and gold Lotus 95T, he delivered the finest season of his career: four podiums, relentless consistency, and a third place in the World Championship, the best any driver outside of McLaren could achieve that year.
In a season completely dominated by Lauda and Prost, Elio stood tall. No wins, yet never invisible. Always elegant, always fast, always present.
He left us on a Tuesday morning at Paul Ricard, during a test session with Brabham. He was 28 years old.
The last gentleman of Formula One. Forever missed. 🖤
1984, Lotus 95T
