A perfect Friday in Florence 🇮🇹✨
We started our day climbing the Duomo tower for those breathtaking city views 👑 Next stop: the Uffizi Gallery, where we got to admire masterpieces by the absolute icons of art history—Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio 🎨🖌️
After the museum, we just lose ourselves in Florence’s gorgeous historic streets. It’s the perfect mix of jaw-dropping architecture and the world's most exclusive fashion houses giving the city that ultimate luxury vibe 🛍️✨
Such an exceptional, unforgettable day in this beautiful city! 🏛️❤️

The past few days have been an incredible experience, during which we gathered unforgettable memories and a wealth of new knowledge.

In the afternoon, we headed towards the picturesque town of Vinci, the birthplace of the Renaissance's greatest genius. It was amazing to see the models of Leonardo da Vinci's futuristic inventions up close and to admire his brilliant creations! Tomorrow, perhaps the most exciting and longest day awaits us, but exactly where we are going remains a secret for now... 🇮🇹🎨

Morning language lessons (English 🇬🇧 & Italian 🇮🇹) done, afternoon spent exploring Siena, Tuscany’s Gothic jewel box! 💎✨
We got to see the spectacular, shell-shaped Piazza del Campo – home of the famous historic horse races – and were totally blown away by the stunning black-and-white Gothic Duomo. 🏛️🖤🤍
We also learned that the city was Florence's greatest rival during the Middle Ages. ⚔️

After our morning intensive English and Italian classes, we explored San Gimignano—one of Tuscany’s most beautiful hidden gems, sitting on a 324-meter-high hilltop. During our afternoon stroll, we checked out the 14 iconic towers that still tell the story of medieval noble families flexing on each other. Even though the plague and poverty brought the town's growth to a halt in the 14th century, that's exactly why the medieval vibe stayed completely untouched in this amazing UNESCO World Heritage site.We wrapped up the day in style with some world-champion gelato from Gelateria Dondoli. ☀️🍨"

Channeling our inner Galileo at the Leaning Tower of Pisa yesterday! Walked all the way up, where we experienced firsthand the shift in the center of gravity caused by the tower's tilt, and we also observed the laws of the famous pendulum motion. After we finished experimenting up high, we spent the rest of the day at the beach, where we perfectly unwound from the exhaustion of climbing the stairs and exploring science. 🇮🇹☀️by Schmidt-Kovács Anna 12/D

Last weekend we had the third reunion of our programme called Critical thinkers – angol vita klubok. On Friday students from Debrecen, Pápa and Budapest joined our Babits Debate Club and they all visited the MediSkills Lab at the medical university. They could interact with Sharon, the virtual patient, and try other clinical skills simulations. On Saturday they had two debates on two different topics: virtual patients and gene-editing in human embryos. The topics seem challenging, but all 8 teams were extremely well-prepared and carried out an excellent debate with intriguing arguments.

On April 24th the finals of the DEbate competition took place at Debrecen University. Our team, the Brain Worms came fifth with two awesome debates on the following motion:
Governments should protect free speech even if it allows the spreading of misinformation and divisive ideas.
The competition was a great experience with excellent opponents, friendly judges and wonderful organizers.
Congratulations to the team: Esküdt Blanka, 11.d, Szabó Luca, 11.d and Gergely Máté, 11.e.
