For thousands of years, lacquerware was reserved,
only for emperors, nobles, and royal courts in China.
Not because it was fashionable —
but because it was incredibly difficult to create.
Each piece is built through dozens — sometimes hundreds — of layers of natural lacquer, polished slowly by hand over weeks or even months.
The result?
A surface deeper than paint.
Smoother than silk.
And a glow that almost feels alive.
Lacquer can become:
✨ Jewellery boxes
✨ Folding screens
✨ Vases
✨ Paintings
✨ Furniture
✨ Objects for everyday life transformed into art
At our exhibition, discover one of China’s oldest and most luxurious traditional crafts — where ancient techniques meet contemporary aesthetics.
Some pieces feel like museum treasures.
Some feel surprisingly modern.
All of them carry time inside.
