Twelve Days of Christmas 2025 Year-Recap:

Day 12: December 2025!

Yet again, December tried to make itself the SHORTEST month of the year. It always seems to fly by!!

For us in Hungary, this year involved all the normal Christmas festivities (decorations, holiday gatherings, school concert, Xmas Eve service, FaceTime with family, etc.).

Additionally, Dan was in Bulgaria for a few days, and as a family we traveled to always lovely Birkenhead to help our 3W colleagues (Zach & Audrey Langford) with a Christmas program at Egan Road Church of God.

While we did not have a ‘white Christmas,’ snow came in time for New Year’s!

Twelve Days of Christmas 2025 Year-Recap:

Day 11: November 2025!

We returned to Hungary after another amazing 3WLN Conference!

A few days later, Dan made another delivery of humanitarian aid into Ukraine. This trip involved the dreaded…flat tire. Actually BURST tire. But all’s well that ends well. 🥳 Along with the German Church of God, we continue to assess the situation in Ukraine and ways we can best walk alongside our Church partners there.

We concluded soccer season with a tournament in Bratislava where…our defensive player…scored her first goal!!!

November also saw us celebrating Christy’s birthday!

Later in the month, four young ladies (who are old friends) came to visit from the Netherlands! It was wonderful spending so much time with them after so long!! They arrived just in time to watch Sofie in the school musical (Seussical). The month ended with us beginning to decorate for Christmas!

Twelve Days of Christmas 2025 Year-Recap:

Day 10: October 2025!

Having initially applied in March, October finally saw the end of our long battle with residence permits!!! This great news came just in time for us to travel to a soccer tournament in Vienna…

…AND for our 3WLN Conference in Switzerland! This is one of the most meaningful parts of our job, as we get to pour into relationships across the region as well as connect people with each other. This time, Dan also got to play lumberjack, lol.

In October, we also got to enjoy some beautiful Fall weather in Budapest with friends from the Pacific Northwest.

Twelve Days of Christmas 2025 Year-Recap:

Day 9: September 2025!

Having re-applied for our Hungarian residence permits at the end of August, September was spent waiting.

It began with some more flood/mold clean-up (yay). It also began with Sofie starting her 8th grade year, and being reunited with friends! Dan also had the chance to serve as the assistant coach for Sofie’s soccer team! The month also involved many zooms, especially for Christy as final prep was being done for October’s 3WLN Conference. The month ended with us being interviewed by R W Moody for the COGO podcast.

Twelve Days of Christmas 2025 Year-Recap:

Day 8: AUGUST 2025!

In March, we applied for our Hungarian residence permits and were told we may hear a response in 1-2 weeks… FIVE MONTHS LATER, we finally heard a response: REJECTED.

August also saw us waking up to a message that a pipe had randomly burst and flooded our basement (while we were in America)…resulting in a moldy M-E-S-S.

BUT… August also saw us taking advantage of time together to have family photos taken, cashing in Sofie’s birthday gift to see Dude Perfect, enjoying time with very dear friends in Pennsylvania, speaking at a church in Connecticut, Sofie getting to be a Flower Girl, celebrating with a baptism in Hungary, and having a Hungarian Church of God Board Meeting entirely in person (1 member lives in Indiana) and us joining our 3W Team’s annual staff meeting on zoom (due to our residence permit status).

Twelve Days of Christmas 2025 Year-Recap:

Day 7: JULY 2025!

July was chock-full of special time with dear friends in Denver, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky! Several birthdays were celebrated, including the birthday of the USA. 😉 A few zoo trips and sports events also made the docket! Oh, and we celebrated our 20th Anniversary! 😳 Final shot: an OLD photo of two crazy kids who had no clue what the future held! 🥳

Twelve Days of Christmas 2025 Year-Recap:

Day 6: JUNE 2025!

June began with Dan in Bulgaria, visiting our friends in Plovdiv AND Gabrovo! Sofie bid adieu to 7th grade and some friends who graduated, but not before enjoying an early birthday party! We traveled to the States, for a busy few weeks! We enjoyed visiting with some supporting congregations and making a road trip west to Denver for the Church of God convention, where we got to see several dear friends!!!

Day 5: MAY 2025!

April showers did indeed bring MAY Flowers!

In addition to enjoying the beautiful springtime flowers and warm weather, we kept busy with Christy traveling to Paris to host a group from Arizona, Sofie and friends helping provide childcare for a Ukrainian ministry, more volleyball, and Dan ending the month with a visit to Bulgaria (wait for June…).
