Dr. Sophia Achab presented “Empowering Women Leaders and Patients: Addressing Behavioral Addictions through Gender-Sensitive Approaches.”

The keynote highlighted the importance of gender-sensitive approaches in both the treatment of behavioral addictions and the development of leadership in the field.

Reflecting on three decades of research, the lecture explored the evolving understanding of behavioral addictions and key developments in the field.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Maëva Flayelle as a keynote speaker at ICBA 2026.

Her keynote, “Technology Design Features of Online Applications: Emerging Empirical Insights into Their Influence on Problematic Online Behaviors,” explores how digital environments may shape problematic online behaviours.

Prof. Daniel King presented his keynote, “Defending Against Threats to Gaming Disorder Science,” examining the challenges facing the field and the pressures shaping research, policy, and scientific progress.

An important discussion on the future of gaming disorder research.

Congratulations to Cecilia Cheng, Shuo Li, and Si Chen, recipients of the Best Paper of the Year in the Journal of Behavioral Addictions Award for their 2024 paper on preventing gaming disorder and promoting mental wellness among primary school pupils.
