UPDATE: BABY ESTHER HAD SURGERY YESTERDAY AND IS DOING WELL.

This morning I finished cataloguing all the supplies God sent us this last week. Both the airplane and the boat arrived. 17 large boxes from the ship and 20 small ones on the airplane! Our personal pantry is full of fun things as well. What a blessing!

This afternoon was spent on logistics for 2 patients. One left yesterday to be admitted to a hospital for cancer treatment that may lead to a cure even though the tumor is large. Trying to manage anything in Haiti is a challenge, but long distance makes it even tougher.

Then a 6 day old baby arrived with Dad who had taken her from the hospital where she was born. Little Esther had not had any nourishment by mouth for those 6 days. She wanted to suck but couldn't keep anything down. A tube was unable to pass into her stomach as well. Without most of the papers or lab tests, Dr. Jim guessed a malformed esophagus and perhaps trachea. No sounds where there should be some. Because the afternoon was wearing down, we called a friend to see if we could get helicopter to take the child to Port au Prince for life-saving surgery. It was a wild and crazy hour but they took off from Leogane and arrived in Port prior to darkness.

As you are praying for Haiti, as the Esther of old begged others to pray for her people, the Jews, we ask that you will pray for this little Esther as well when you lift up Haiti.

Update on Jobensky: On August 31 I posted about a young boy heading to South Korea for heart surgery. His visa was taking so long that the Korean option was lost due to timing. They are now working with Haiti Cardiac Alliance to see if they can be done in the Dominican with the Korean group paying the surgery fees. Please pray that they can get this worked out. I think they will still need the US visa to travel to the DR through Florida. THANKS!

SHEILA ENTERED THE HOSPITAL LAST SATURDAY AND HAD A STROKE ON TUESDAY NIGHT. THE CANCER TEAM HAD CASE REVIEWS ON WEDNESDAY AND DETERMINED THE STROKE WAS LIKELY DUE TO CANCER THAT HAD SPREAD. She returned home on Thursday and died yesterday. She was a committed believer in her Lord and Savior and no longer suffers. THANK YOU FOR PRAYING.

Please pray for Sheila. She is 27 and has a large tumor on her o***y. The cancer doctor wants her to be hospitalized in their hospital to build her up in order to hopefully remove the tumor. They think 2 weeks of treatments to help her. Ovarian cancers can sometimes be cured even when large. We are going to trust God and send her even though it is not a charitable hospital. She is a believer in Christ and her church has raised some money for her as well. Thank you for having faith in our Savior for Sheila.

Our ship has come in...literally. Here is one of the many improvements that came this week in the 17 boxes of supplies (we have been praying for months) that finally arrived. We needed a new light in the ER and will also get one in the OR soon. We were gifted 2 dental lights which Bos Ed hung from the ceilings of these rooms many years ago. They both have given out and it's very difficult to find the bulbs anymore. Thanking God for LIGHT.

Ener came in this morning for his first consult after falling from a tree. He had a very painful neck and could not swallow even water. Dr. Jim is not sure of the diagnosis but thinks he may have punctured his lungs. He seems to be accumulating some fluid perhaps blood and has other unusual symptoms. Please pray for Ener. We sent him to the charity hospital in hopes that they can help him.

Because Haiti continues to have many consequences of the insecurity in portions of the country, we are joining a prayer group and ask that you all might join us in prayer. This will be a 2 week venture ending in a day of fasting and prayer. You will not receive a huge number of posts if you join this group. Please help us to pray and share this group with any you know. All posts are in both English and Haitian Creole.

BIG prayer request: Our US missions pathology service is closing this month. We have fewer than 10 biopsies left to send out. After that we do not have a charitable and reliable source to find out if our patients' biopsies are cancer or not.
1. Pray for wisdom
2. Do you know any doctors who are Christian or humanitarian who might know Christian or humanitarian pathologists who would be interested in helping us out. We've contacted 2 possibilities but nothing yet.
3. Give us contacts. Maybe 1 will hear from God and take up the mantle. I suspect that our current one would share how he did this.

Baby Brayan is the newborn who recently had spina bifida repair. He is doing great and mama is VERY happy. He has no paralysis and water on the brain which is another associated complication is minimal at this point. We will continue to monitor that. THANK YOU for your prayers and donations that made this possible.

Since Prayer is the communication route to the POWER behind our Christian walk, it is essential that it work well. Without batteries our walkie talkies cannot work and hook up to the "brains" behind the operation. We need prayer to be able to function effectively. If I am too tired to post updates and prayer requests for the prayer "warriors" out there, the work suffers. If we do not give Thanks and Praise to the POWER that is making it all work, the work will suffer. If there is a barrier like sin blocking our communication, jamming the signal, the work suffers.

When the enemy is near and attacking that is when we need prayer the most. Let's all do our part to keep the information flowing up to our God and Savior so that the work of sharing the Gospel and helping heal both physical and spiritual needs can be accomplished, effectively.

Many of you know this and that is why you MAKE time to PRAY daily. You are the communication route to the Father. Your work in prayer is the source of the power that makes this ministry effective.
