This is where you can find out about all the happenings in Give A Kid To A Kid in Haiti. We currently have 4 branches to our program that are empowering Haitians in education, economics and spiritual values. The oldest program, beginning in 2009, is for children in 4th grade. The children have a weekly class throughout the school year learning how to care for goats and have devotions that share th
e gospel. When they know how to feed their goats and know when they are sick they are given a pregnant female goat. They are followed and taught more the rest of the year. The parents sign an agreement to help the children and let them make the decisions regarding what to do with the offspring of their goat. The first offspring is returned to the project so it can continue. Our second branch began in 2012 and works with children 8-16 who have not been to school before. We teach them basic literacy and the goat program for 6-9 months. Then they receive a goat and are able to attend regular school. Also since 2012 the third branch does the same program with young men and woman who are in local gangs. They have dropped out of school and have no future. Getting a goat gives them a sense of responsibility and purpose. They have hope for a future. Our fourth branch began in 2013 and is a partnership with Ambassadors Football Haiti where we do the goat program with children on soccer teams so that they can have a way to fund their tournaments and a chance to improve their economic situation.
