The future and how we create it to be. In this case: what to do with our hectares of forest so it thrives and lives on with rising temperatures?
We aim to be self sufficient on various points. Our results are directly influenced by nature and we have to find out the best way to handle higher temperatures.
Croatia is heating up, like the rest of Europe. Our forests, fields and our produce are reacting to that. Our blackberries are hanging on the plants like little dark crisps.
It has consequences for all our growth plans.
Sepp Holzer in Austria has created micro climates with multiple ponds, and he reduced the effects longer heat periods can have.
Chance would have it a recently finished German forest engineer camped here. We got into conversation about his specialty. And immediately took a walk in the forest.
Me and my son Nol already had conversations about what to do about the forest. The chance visit of Julian, filled in a lot of gaps in our knowledge.
We are working out his suggestions and searching for temperature resistant trees, in order to ensure the future forest will be as healthy as possible in the next half century and beyond. That planning made it possible to have the Notre Dame in Paris burn down AND have the right trees in abundance throughout France.
We aim to learn from any example that works.
Aiming to thrive, work diligently and celebrate this beautiful life. There is space for those willing to join. Temporarily and maybe repeat visit later. Or some that are interested to build a village together.
