Leadership Mission International

Leadership Mission International A project of Leadership Mission International, TLC exists to educate, train, and develop the next generation of ethical Honduran leaders!

The Leadership Center is a project of US-based NGO Leadership Mission International, and exists to provide full scholarships to young women from Honduras who do not have access to education beyond high school. TLC offers a 2-year program that focuses on Leadership, Community Development, and Entrepreneurship. Our graduates return to their communities as business owners and ethical leaders in order

to provide long-term, sustainable changes that will positively impact their communities for generations to come!

“Education and leadership can transform lives. I understood that as a woman, I have the power to impact my family, my community, and my country.”

Rosi is graduating this Saturday and will do her internship at HIBS School and Institute, working in educating the next generation. We can't wait to hear her stories of how she will put what she's learned at LMI into practice!

Cohort 15 is getting ready to graduate, and they’re feeling reflective. 🧡

In this reel, each student shares one way she has grown during her time at LMI, from finding her voice to growing in confidence, leadership, and purpose.

We are so proud of these women and can’t wait to see the positive change they continue to lead in their communities.

LMI students Nely and Delmi brought what they are learning at The Leadership Center back to Nely’s community.

Their project focused on creating a vegetable garden while teaching community members how to use natural resources, prepare compost and bocashi, and reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. Even when rain, cold weather, and transportation challenges disrupted the day, the group kept going.

Six community members joined the project, including women, men, and one child. Together, they planted vegetables and began building a garden that community members hope to continue caring for and expanding.

For Nely and Delmi, this was leadership in action: sharing knowledge, adapting to challenges, and helping their community imagine new possibilities for food production.

LMI students Katherine and Angie Carolina turned a simple school clean-up into a lesson in leadership, teamwork, and environmental care.

For their Community Project, they visited a second-grade class to teach students why it matters to care for the environment and protect natural resources. After the lesson, the children put what they learned into practice by picking up trash around the school.

Students learned how to recycle, worked together, and saw the immediate result of their effort: a cleaner place to learn and play.

For Katherine and Angie Carolina, the experience was also a chance to practice patience, communication, and leadership.

“We learned that even a small action can bring about big changes if we do it wholeheartedly.”

This is what leadership development looks like: young women using what they have learned to serve their communities and inspire the next generation.

Last weekend, we had the honor of welcoming Héctor Eduardo Ruiz from World Vision Honduras to our facilities for a special seminar with Cohort 15 as part of the project "Growing with AI." 🤖✨

Our students dove into the world of Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and safe social media use — and left inspired! They explored powerful digital tools for creating texts, images, videos, presentations, infographics, and more to support both their academic training and professional internships.

This is just the beginning. Héctor will return next quarter to bring this same experience to Cohort 16 as the project continues to grow. 💡
Technology has the power to transform education, and it's important that women from rural areas are included. We're grateful for this partnership and for everyone making Growing with AI a reality. 🙌

In her community, Cohort 15 student Jossiela saw a real public health need: many families store water in containers, which can become breeding places for mosquitoes that spread diseases like dengue.

For her community project, she visited homes and applied larvicide to water containers while teaching families how to prevent mosquito breeding and keep their water storage clean.

In total, Jossiela reached around 51 families.

The project gave her community practical support, but it also gave Jossiela the opportunity to practice communication, responsibility, and initiative. She had to explain health risks clearly, answer questions, and return to homes when families were not available the first time.

Reflecting on her experience, Jossiela shared:
“I felt most proud when people thanked me for helping protect their families.”

This weekend, five of our students participated in a Women’s Entrepreneurs Fair hosted by the National Training Center for Work (CENET) in the city of Comayagua!

At the fair, they had the opportunity to showcase their small businesses, share their products with the community, and connect with other women entrepreneurs. They even met the deputy mayor of Comayagua!

We are so proud to see our students stepping into leadership, building practical business skills, and gaining confidence as young entrepreneurs. Keep going, ladies!

Happy Mother's Day! At LMI, many of our students cite their mothers as their inspiration to work hard and serve others. Yesterday, we shared a clip of Riccy, who was inspired by her mother and grandmother to pursue a law degree.

Watch Riccy's full journey to being a lawyer here:

Riccy, a graduate of LMI's Cohort 7, dreamed of being a lawyer after witnessing injustice against women in her family. After watching her grandmother’s famil...
