Books for a Better World volunteers Lisa Spendlove Schuring and Rachel Spendlove encountered the sweetest students eagerly awaiting them at the village school Nueva Jerusalen in Raxruha. These small, humble, rural schools are the perfect fit for Books for a Better World and are the reason our volunteers go home with hearts overflowing with joy and the happiest of memories. These students and their dedicated teachers deserve the wonder-filled world a children's book offers.
Our hope is that these books awaken their curiosity in the world and help them develop a life long love of learning.

Our volunteers Dana Friedeman Najah Wilson Dayna Green Tanner and Kathleen Phillips overcame quite a few obstacles during their second week in Honduras to make book deliveries. However, seeing the joyful smiles and innovative ways teachers create libraries in their classroom made it all the more worth it ❤️📚❤️.

Volunteers Dana Friedeman and Najah Wilson had a special experience today. They met with Sister Frances who teaches at a small school where the students travel by donkey. Unfortunately the road to the school was impassable by car and due to time constraints, they were unable to make the journey on foot. So, they presented Sister Frances with a box of storybooks and school supplies on the side of the highway. She was most appreciative of this gift as the school has a great need. They are working to repair the road, so our hope is to physically reach that school next year ❤️📚❤️

Books for a Better World travel volunteers Rachel Spendlove and Lauren Spendlove haven't let the language barrier get in their way of serving our adorable Guatemalan friends with all their hearts. Truly the power of human connection through the language of smiles, laughter and hugs can overcome any barrier... add in a good book with brightly illustrated pages to ooh and ah over and nothing can stop you!

This past Friday, the day before our volunteers Kira and Abby arrived in Honduras, we found out that the books we shipped over 3 months ago were not going to arrive in time for them to deliver them. So how did they deliver books to 3 amazing schools today?

Luckily our wonderful friends at Chispa Project had books in Honduras we could buy from them so that our week was not wasted. But that's $2100 we didn't think we would have to spend this year, so we need your help!

Make a donation to support all the great work our volunteers are doing to make sure that books make it into the hands of kids in schools throughout Central America this year and beyond.

3. In these small schools with all 6 grades in 1 classroom, pairing up to read is the way to go.
4. This boy found a comfy spot to read, then kept coming back to ask if he could read the book again!
