Let’s talk about periods! How can we talk about menstruation with young people on social media — in ways that are informative, empowering, and relatable?
At FreePeriods Hong Kong, breaking period stigma has always been part of our mission. That’s why we’re excited to share our localised guide, adapted from “Using Social Media To Communicate Effectively with Young People about Menstruation” by Dr. Maria Kathryn Tomlinson and Acushla Young.
We adapted the guide for Hong Kong by updating platform references, redesigning some visuals to reflect local daily life, and creating a Cantonese version that can be used directly in workshops, trainings, or community sharing.
We’re grateful to Dr. Tomlinson and Acushla Young for supporting this collaboration. We hope this guide can help more organisations, educators, and individuals talk about menstruation with young people more confidently.
