HKAGA is a member-based non-profit organisation of established art galleries in Hong Kong. Founded in 2012, the Association seeks to advance the Hong Kong art gallery community by providing one voice to its members, reaching out to the local and international art community, and helping deepen market knowledge and best practices amongst its members. In addition to hosting regular Art or Art-related Talks and Tours open to the Hong Kong community throughout the year, each November brings Hong Kong Art Week: a week-long Arts Festival of Talks, Tours, Studio Visits, special art events, circling Art Buses touring the different art districts, Art Lates as well as Family Art Days by neighbourhood. This week-long festival, in addition to other gallery events, nurtures an awareness of the developing arts and culture scene in Hong Kong, and fosters a culture of gallery-hopping in one of Asia’s most dynamic cities!

Celebrate upcoming cooler weather, a short holiday week, and four exhibition openings and talks this week!

HKAGA's webinar "Sustainability in Practice" will discuss the challenges as well as practical steps of sustainability in the art world. Join us with Cliodhna Murphy (Global Head of Environmental Sustainability at Hauser & Wirth - Art Gallery) and Riccardo Chesti (Director of MASSIMODECARLO), for a lively and thoughtful discussion to learn more! HART HAUS presents their talk “Kongkee on Asian Futurism”, exploring technology, history, and cyberpunk aesthetics from a Hong Kong perspective.

On Friday, Art of Nature Contemporary opens "White Reclusion”, which explores autumn as a season to quieten and gather what has grown. Curated by Audrey Ma, the exhibition highlights how artists gradually turn inwards towards themselves through their creation.

Finally on Saturday, GOLD by Serakai Studio's latest event in their sound installation series "Memory & Punishment: Guest Engineer Interventions" features Karen Yu, a percussionist, sound artist, and curator whose work explores the intersections of sound-making, audience engagement, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

DE SARTHE | Hong Kong is a platform for boundary pushing contemporary art from Asia.

You can find DE SARTHE gallery on the second floor of Block A Vita Tower in Wong Chuk Hang. At 10,000-square-feet, DE SARTHE’s contemporary programme is focused on the complexities and social implications created by the emergence of new technologies. The space not only showcases large-scale contemporary works, but is also dedicated to modern and post-war masters. This edit features Director Julia as she takes you through the Wong Chuk Hang space.

Join us on Saturday, 19 September in Sheung Wan for a special charity curator-led gallery tour! 🖼️

Led by independent curator Shirky Chan Shirky Chan , this special edition walk takes us through new and exciting exhibitions at selected galleries in Sheung Wan. From Soluna Fine Art and Leo Gallery 獅語畫廊 , to Blue Lotus Gallery , Contemporary by Angela Li , you‘ll discover a diverse range of works by both local and international artists. If you want an in-depth look into the Hong Kong art scene, don’t miss out!

👉 Participation fee is HK$120 per person, with all proceeds going towards Lifelong Animal Protection Charity, an organisation helping animals in Hong Kong to find good homes.

Alisan Atelier Alisan Fine Arts presents artist talk “Female Voices in China Now” in conjunction with new exhibition “Revisiting the Jade Terrace: Exploring the Role of Female Ink Artists in Contemporary China”. Twelve years after their exhibition in 2014, the new vanguard in contemporary ink reconvenes at Alisan Atelier. Featuring female artists Chu Chu, Wang Mengsha, Zhang Ying, and Zhang Yirong, each artist offers a distinctive voice shaped by different experiences, concerns, and approaches to the medium as they exhibit the expressive potential of ink beyond traditional convention.

From 3 - 4 pm, artists Wang Mengsha and Zhang Yirong will discuss the role of female artists within the context of contemporary Chinese discourse, followed by an opening reception from 4 - 6 pm.

藝倡沙龍 Alisan Fine Arts 配合新展「重遊玉臺：探索當代中國女性水墨藝術家的角色」，呈獻藝術家講座「當代中國的女性聲音」。繼 2014 年展覽的十二年後，水墨新先鋒於藝倡沙龍再度聚首，展出女性藝術家儲楚、王濛莎、張鷹及張藝蓉的作品。四位藝術家各自呈現由不同經歷、關切點和媒材運用方式所塑造的獨特藝術聲音，展現打破傳統常規的水墨表現潛能。

下午 3 時至 4 時將由藝術家王濛莎與張藝蓉展開講座，探討當代中國語境下的女性藝術家角色；開幕酒會隨後於下午 4 時至 6 時舉行。

Renowned for his dynamic photographs of Belle Époque life, car races, and elegant women, September 5th is your last chance to view a renewed glimpse into the world of Jacques Henri Lartigue. As eloquently noted by Richard Avedon, join the exhibition finale to see how Lartigue ‘photographed his own life,’ creating a dreamed, idealised vision where he consciously chose to “keep only the sunshine”.

Even the heatwave can’t stop the local art scene! This week, galleries are buzzing with openings and events.

Starting Thursday at Soluna Fine Art , duo exhibition “Letter to Myself” by Lee Ja‑Young and Rosalyn Ng explores intimate dialogue through abstract forms. On Friday, Gu Yue’s solo “Boundaries” at Art of Nature Contemporary 天趣當代藝術 invites us to rethink boundaries as spaces for understanding.

Saturday heats up with I.F. Gallery and bringing you Thea Mu’s charity exhibition “Whispers from a Young Cosmos”, accompanied with workshops, tours, artist talk, and opening reception. 當代唐人藝術中心 Tang Contemporary Art presents group show “We Paint What You Might See” curated by Zoe i & willa, exploring painting as reshaping the visible.

At Wong Chuk Hang, Lucie Chang holds a talk “Redefining the Value of Art”. GOLD by presents sound installation “Memory & Punishment” by Janice Laujan. Tin Wan’s Empty Gallery hosts Professor Shigehisa Kuriyama’s lecture “The Great Forgetting”.
