🌴 Think you assess palms the same way as other trees? Think again.

Palms have their own structural and biological characteristics — and after 50 years of working with them, Jeff Shimonski has plenty to share.

Jeff is President of Tropical Designs of Florida and has spent more than five decades working in tropical horticulture and tree management.

At the 15th Anniversary International Arboriculture Summit, his session:

🔹 50 Years of Growing Palms and Assessing Their Risk

will look at what practitioners should pay attention to when assessing palms, including:

🌴 species characteristics and site conditions
🌴 structural defects and decline
🌴 warning signs of potential failure
🌴 the importance of good records and professional judgement

Jeff will also draw on his Expert Witness experience involving palm failures, showing why documented observations and professional assessment can become very important when a tree-related incident occurs.

If you work with palms in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia or other tropical and subtropical environments, this session should be highly relevant to your day-to-day work.

At this November, 15th Anniversary International Arboriculture Summit in Hong Kong, Frank Rinn, founder of RINNTECH, will explore how technology is changing the way we inspect and assess trees.
