Millions of cats and dogs are living on the streets of Europe and North America, suffering from hunger, cold and neglect. In Europe alone, an estimated 100 million companion animals are homeless.In the U.S., tens of millions of stray and feral cats roam free. and about 6.3 million cats and dogs enter shelters each year. Globally, the World Health Organization estimates nearly 200 million stray dogs wander the world. Without intervention, these animals face starvation, disease and abuse. As one rescue leader warns, “abandoned cats are hungry, cold and afraid”—a reality we must change.
How We Help: Food, Shelter & Care
A volunteer feeds hungry street dogs, showing how every contribution makes a real difference. HOME SAFE HAVEN transforms donations into life-saving action. Every contribution goes directly to:
—Nutritious Meals & Clean Water: We purchase and deliver daily food to hungry strays, ensuring no animal starves.
—Warm Outdoor Shelters: We build and distribute insulated shelters to protect cats and dogs from rain, heat and freezing winters.
—Spay/Neuter & Vaccination: We fund high-volume clinics to sterilize and vaccinate free-roaming pets. By spaying/neutering over 70% of a community’s cats, studies show the stray population will decline significantly.preventing thousands of future litters.
—Emergency Veterinary Care: We cover urgent medical treatment for injured or ill strays—everything from treating fractures and infections to providing critical surgery.
Your gift is guaranteed to deliver these essentials. For example, a small donation can feed a dog for a week or fund a spay surgery that prevents scores of unwanted animals.
Our Impact & Goals
A rescued dog receives a veterinary exam – medical care saves lives. Thanks to supporters, HOME SAFE HAVEN has already saved many lives. In the past year we have fed thousands of animals and treated hundreds of injuries across Europe and North America. By way of example, UK charity Cats Protection helped 184,000 cats in 2023, illustrating what coordinated action can achieve. We are adopting the same approach. Our trap-neuter-return programs aim to sterilize at least 70% of local strays — the proven threshold to reduce populations. Every animal brought indoors and every litter prevented is a victory. With continued support, we will reach even more: more meals delivered, more shelters built, and many more happy endings for cats and dogs in need.
