Congratulations to Professor Simon Wong, Chairman of HKQAA, on his appointment as Adjunct Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University's School of Economics and Finance! 🏛️🎉

On June 7, 2026, the appointment ceremony took place during the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Xi'an Jiaotong University Hong Kong Alumni Association. The Vice President of Xi'an Jiaotong University, presented the appointment letter to Professor Wong. 🙏

Professor Wong brings extensive experience in business operations, brand development, industrial upgrading, and economic cooperation. He has served in various government, industry, and community roles, and is also a recognized inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of "Hong Kong-style Milk Tea," dedicated to promoting Hong Kong's food culture and its economic value. 🍵

Last Friday (June 5, 2026), the "HKQAA Sustainability Forum • Hong Kong 2026" came to a successful conclusion 🎉. This breakout forum themed "Promoting Green and Smart Construction with Advanced Technologies" 🌱 was held at The Connect Space ✨. The forum brought together stakeholders from across the construction industry 💪, focusing on low-carbon transformation and advanced construction technologies 🌟, exploring topics including low-carbon transformation in construction, green buildings, advanced technologies, and smart construction, sharing insights and practical experience 💡.

🤝 HKQAA will continue to develop services and tools, working with various sectors to promote the application of professional standards by different types of organizations 📈. 💚 Practicing sustainable development principles and integrating them into organizational operations.

The Connect Space 🏢, the venue for this forum, is an interactive space that, in addition to hosting professional exchange activities, is planned to provide venue support for social enterprises and non-profit charitable organizations 🤗.

Refreshments for this forum were provided by the local social enterprise "Deaf Cafeteria" ☕, one of the ESG solution providers in the "HKQAA ESG Connect Program." HKQAA's past seminars have been held at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum ⚓.

🏅 The "Hong Kong Green and Sustainability Contribution Award 2026" presentation ceremony was held at the forum 🎖️. This recognition program received participation from the industry, with recognized organizations covering various sectors, including Hong Kong companies and enterprises from the Greater Bay Area and other mainland cities 🇨🇳.

AluHouse Company Ltd. was commended at the HKQAA “Sustainability Forum · 2026” for Outstanding Award for Excellent Contribution to Livable City Construction. Their Director, Mr. Paul Law has shared the company’s strategies and key measures on efficient buildings and sustainability.

AluHouse places “design at the core,” committing to integrate the full MiC (Modular Integrated Construction) process—from design, procurement and production to installation and international safety standards—and to drive an innovation ecosystem in the construction sector. 🏆 Its main initiatives include:

-Ocean Park Corporation — Ms. Cheung Chi-chung, Senior Manager, Exploration & Education, shared “Nature-Positive Initiatives”, presenting cutting-edge ideas on conservation education and nature integration. 🌿

🌱 Social Enterprise Showcase & Inclusive Refreshments
Four social enterprises presented diverse sustainable outcomes:
• Starup Wonder — trains youth with intellectual disabilities as artists, turning artworks into leather and fluid-art products. 🎨
• Kolb Life Limited — produces additive-free Chinese & Western soups and care meals, involving people of different abilities in food production. 🍲
• Brokenness Limited — offers recovery companionship to people experiencing emotional distress through art and crafts. 🧵
• Hello Cocoa Limited — trains SEN youth as chocolatiers, committed to single-origin cocoa, handcrafted production. 🍫

Refreshments were thoughtfully prepared by Deaf Cafeteria, supporting inclusive employment through delicious food. 🤝

A building’s ability to respond to climate risks—referred to as climate resilience—is gradually becoming a factor influencing insurance premiums and underwriting conditions.

Key changes in premium structure:
▪️ Premium adjustments 📈: Properties in higher-risk areas are seeing rising premium trends
▪️ More granular risk assessment 🔍: Moving from regional pricing to building-specific factors such as design, materials, and mitigation measures
▪️ Changes in coverage scope ⚖️: Underwriting terms may be adjusted under certain high-risk conditions

Why climate resilience matters
Enhancing building design and management in areas such as wind resistance, flood protection, and drainage can help mitigate risks, and may have a positive impact on premiums and asset value.

Key development directions include:

On April 28, 2026, the Corporate Sustainable Development Conference opened in Shanghai. the conference themed "Multilateral Action, Shared Responsibility" aims to implement global sustainability strategies, deepen ESG practice in China, and help Shanghai become a global ESG innovation hub. It brought together international organizations, leading company executives, and experts for high-level dialogues. 🤝📈

Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) has delivered a keynote, noting Hong Kong's push to become a "super hub" for green capital and a value-added partner for Chinese enterprises going global and emphasized tech enablement and inclusive finance in building a sustainable ecosystem. 🔋💡

A parallel forum, "China’s Energy Transition and AI-driven Global Energy New Infrastructure," gathered academia, industry and investors to discuss energy transition pathways, AI-enabled energy infrastructure, sustainable supply chains, and global green cooperation. 🤖🔋🌱

During the forum, HKQAA has also chaired a roundtable on "Building Sustainable Supply Chains: Full-chain Decarbonization & Cross-industry Collaboration" .
