.shindo_51
This is, without a doubt, the most insane day in the history of the Hong Kong cubing community.
Right around noon, a bombshell piece of news broke straight out of Guangzhou:
“Yang Pin Xiu— 2.74 3x3 Single NR!”
At first, absolutely no one could wrap their heads around it; nobody dared to believe it was real.
The global community exploded into pure frenzy in an instant, with everyone frantically hunting for more updates—until the footage from the venue finally dropped.
He actually did it.
Those outside the cubing scene might never fully grasp just how mind-boggling a 2.74 really is.
The previous world record belonged to Poland’s Teodor, who blew open the sub-3 frontier with an unreal 2.76 seconds—a summit that even living legends like Feliks and Tymon could never touch. Back then, everyone was debating who would be the next to shatter the WR: would it be Yiheng? Or Xuanyi? Nobody could have ever imagined that a Hong Kong speedcuber would one day stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the absolute peak of the world.
Even though Xuanyi Geng broke the world record first at the very same competition with a 2.51, it doesn’t take away an ounce of the sheer shockwave this 2.74 has sent through the cubing world. This stands as the single greatest result Hong Kong has ever produced on the 3x3.
The world will remember his name, Yang Pin Xiu, from Hong Kong.
This is your moment of absolute glory. Today, the entire Hong Kong cubing community stands proud because of you.
Congratulations, Pin Xiu! .shindo_51
