We see great benefits in practical and sustainable ideas that improve the daily lives of those who remain in China’s many often remote village communities. They mostly do not benefit from the massive improvements in standards of living that are concentrated in urban areas. We began by building
bathhouses in rural villages and finding budding social entrepreneurs run them for a profit provided they offer special deals for those in need. This enables us to provide free showers for children, pregnant women and the aged. In March 2015, VPP was invited by Lotus Charity Association (LCA) to look at various projects for which they were seeking funding and partners. We have now started working them to provide individual solar-powered bathrooms to every household in a number of villages in Hualong County.
