Now that is a good idea by LegCo member Lothair Lam! ...... Given the limited use of the China Ferry Terminal right in the middle of the West Kowloon Cultural District and Canton Road, he proposes to move the remaining ferries to the Macau Ferry Pier and re-use the China Ferry Pier for visiting yachts and small cruise ships ... brilliant.

Patience for good things to come. 30 April 2013, Hong Kong was short 8,000 mooring spaces and the industry called for new breakwaters.

Tomorrow, 13 years later, Government seeks HK$2b funding for the expansion of the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter, adding 200 safe mooring spaces. The cost is offset by adjacent land sales.

By now Hong Kong is short 12,000 safe moorings. This number is expected to grow with the opening up of the Greater Bay Area to cross boundary boating.

Plans under way for new moorings near the airport (600), Lamma (200), and the Hung Hom station (200) take time to materialise.

This is not enough and a long wait.

Government is urged to include space for boats in all its waterfront development and reclamation plans - it is the cheapest way to resolve the lack of safe moorings.
