Thanks to the support of the Indonesian trade unions and their acceptance of ESG Cooperation Hub ’s invitation to come to Xiamen, we achieved a significant milestone. Through three days of intensive dialogue, we reached a preliminary understanding with a well-known nickel-iron company based in Morowali, Indonesia. We look forward to seeing these intentions implemented step by step according to the agreed timeline.

This marks a milestone in ESG Cooperation Hub ’s proactive mediation mechanism. We also look forward to more institutions and individuals concerned with Chinese enterprises’ business and human rights (HRDD) issues engaging in open collaboration with ESG Cooperation Hub on concrete cases.

🌏 Upcoming Visit & Dialogue Opportunity

After more than a month of joint preparation, the President and Secretary-General of a major Indonesian national trade union will arrive in Xiamen on the morning of September 23, 2025, and depart on September 26, 2025.

During their stay, ESG Cooperation Hub has coordinated a series of multilateral dialogues between the Indonesian trade union leadership and:
• Chinese enterprises investing in Indonesia,
• critical minerals investors,
• international NGOs,
• scholars,
• domestic industry associations and social organizations.

These dialogues aim to foster constructive engagement on labor rights, ESG practices, and cross-border cooperation within critical supply chains.

Even though I was still dealing with jet lag, I was thrilled to deliver what I believed was a flawless presentation to a leading Chinese multinational mining company. My talk focused on how Chinese companies operating overseas can proactively address questions from NGOs and foster effective collaboration with trade unions.

I drew from over a decade of experience engaging with NGOs and independent trade unions globally, sharing practical insights from these interactions. I encouraged Chinese companies operating overseas to move beyond biases and adopt a proactive, open-minded approach in addressing these stakeholders. Additionally, I explained how NGOs and trade unions function within diverse societies and provided my perspectives on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). I emphasized the importance of DEI as a foundation for effective multi-stakeholder communication and collaboration.

I look forward to more opportunities like this in the future, where I can share my experiences, foster mutual understanding, and promote meaningful collaboration across cultures and industries.
