✨ 卡琳娜·科里根 Karina CORRIGAN｜皮博迪‧艾塞克斯博物館副首席策展人及H.A.克羅斯比‧福布斯亞洲外銷藝術策展人
研究與策展聚焦全球交流中的物質文化及亞洲外銷藝術，負責迪美博物館的重要亞洲外銷藝術收藏，並長期研究中國、日本及南亞為海外市場製作的藝術品。2019 年獲美國藝術博物館策展人協會 Award of Excellence。

✨ 帕特里克·康納 Patrick CONNER｜獨立學者、維多利亞與阿爾伯特博物館研究員
長期研究中國外銷畫及中國貿易相關歷史圖像。曾任 Martyn Gregory Gallery 總監 35 年，並於 2024 年任香港藝術館訪問學者。著有The Hongs of Canton及Paintings of the China Trade等重要著作。

✨ 亞歷山德拉·洛斯克 Alexandra LOSKE｜英國布萊頓皇家穹頂宮策展人
藝術史家、作家及策展人，專研西方藝術色彩史、印刷文化與建築。她現負責布萊頓皇家行宮及相關歷史建築的策展工作，近著包括The Artist’s Palette（2024）及The Royal Pavilion, Brighton（2025）。

We previously introduced four instructors from the Hong Kong Maritime Museum’s Chinese Export Art Short Course 2026. This time, meet three more specialists whose expertise ranges from colour and architectural history to Chinese export painting, Asian export art collections, and curatorial practice.

✨ Karina CORRIGAN | Deputy Chief Curator and The H.A. Crosby Forbes Curator of Asian Export Art, Peabody Essex Museum
Karina specialises in the material culture of global connections and Asian export art. She oversees major Asian export art holdings at PEM and research art made in China, Japan and South Asia for export to other cultures. In 2019, she received an AAMC Award of Excellence.

✨ Patrick CONNER | Independent Scholar, Research Fellow at Victoria & Albert Museum
A specialist in Chinese export painting and historical images of the China Trade. He directed the Martyn Gregory Gallery for 35 years, was a visiting scholar at the Hong Kong Museum of Art in 2024 and is the author of The Hongs of Canton and Paintings of the China Trade.

✨ Alexandra LOSKE | Curator of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, England
An art historian, writer and curator specialising in colour history, print culture, and architecture. Her recent books include The Artist’s Palette (2024) and The Royal Pavilion, Brighton (2025).

The Susan Chen Foundation is proud to have supported the Object Study Course in Chinese Painting at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, which concluded last weekend.

This year’s cohort brought together ten exceptional doctoral students from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan for an intensive, hands-on exploration of Chinese painting and calligraphy. Over several days, participants engaged deeply with topics ranging from twentieth‑century Guangdong painting and Shanghai‑style culture to early twentieth‑century collecting, connoisseurship, conservation, and mounting practices.

The course was led by an extraordinary group of scholars and practitioners shaping the field today:
• Mr Ling Lizhong (凌利中), Director & Curator of Painting and Calligraphy, Shanghai Museum
• Mr Zhichao Lyu (呂智超), Senior Conservator, Hong Kong Palace Museum
• Dr Blythe McCarthy, Andrew W. Mellon Senior Scientist, National Museum of Asian Art, Smithsonian Institution
• Mr Yuen-kit Szeto (司徒元傑), former Chief Curator, Hong Kong Museum of Art
• Dr Wanzhang Zhu (朱萬章), Curator, Hong Kong Palace Museum

Beyond the coursework, what inspires us most is the community that emerged — future curators, conservators, researchers, and cultural leaders who will carry these stories and traditions forward.

Today, on what would have been Susan Chen’s birthday, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose passion for Chinese art, generosity of spirit and commitment to helping others continue to inspire us every day.

Through the Susan Chen Foundation, her legacy lives on by widening access to Chinese art, supporting education, advancing scholarship, and creating opportunities for disadvantaged youngsters in Hong Kong.

As we remember Susan today, we honour the values she embodied throughout her life: curiosity, kindness, generosity and a belief in the transformative power of art and education.
