Last week, our General Manager Eugenie and Vice Chairman Pola had the pleasure of meeting Professor Luo Wenhua, Director of the Research Center for Tibetan Buddhist Heritage at the Palace Museum in Beijing.
The Susan Chen Foundation is exploring opportunities to support the Palace Museum in its project to document and digitise murals, sculptures, textiles, and architectural elements from several historically significant monasteries in Tibet.
The visit could not have been more timely. They were able to view Professor Luo’s remarkable exhibition, Beyond Time: The History, Culture and Art of Sakya Monastery in Tibet, just before it closed on Sunday. Featuring 150 masterpieces from the monastery’s collection—many of which had never before left Sakya since their creation—the exhibition offered an exceptionally rare presentation of Tibetan cultural heritage.

We are delighted to share that the Susan Chen Foundation and the Hong Kong Maritime Museum have signed a cooperation agreement to organise the Symposium on Chinese Export Art, which will take place in 2026, along with a series of related events.
Chinese Export Art encompasses artworks and decorative objects produced in China between the 16th and 19th centuries for export to Europe and other markets blending Chinese craftsmanship with Western aesthetics.
This partnership brings together scholars, collectors, and enthusiasts who share a passion for exploring and studying the rich heritage of Chinese export art.

Stay tuned for updates on the symposium program and accompanying events!
