The Hong Kong Countryside Foundation is developing the concept of a 𝐅𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥 that connects 𝑴𝒊𝒓𝒔 𝑩𝒂𝒚 to 𝑫𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝑩𝒂𝒚 through the hills and plains in the northern part of 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒐𝒏𝒈. It is not a single line, but a network of paths catering for hikers of different levels and linking villages, scenic points, culturally interesting places, sites of ecological values, and convenience stops. More than drawing lines on maps, colleagues and volunteers of HKCF have started making reconnaissance trips to assess conditions on the ground. These images show director Roger Nissim and volunteer Elton Lam evaluating potential routes to link the 𝑹𝒐𝒃𝒊𝒏'𝒔 𝑵𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌 and 𝑻𝒂𝒊 𝑻𝒐 𝒀𝒂𝒏. Much work remains to be done.

Rice Fish has once disappeared from Lai Chi Wo when the village revitalization project started 10 years ago. The re-introduction is a case published in IUCN Translocation for Conservation last year.

The seminar and field trip by Dr. Ken So and Tommy Hui will give you insights about the case.
