Hong Kong Chamber Music Society – The Fabulous Five: Love’s Joy & Heartache

Due to unforeseen scheduling circumstances, the upcoming concert "The Fabulous Five: Love’s Joy & Heartache", originally planned to take place at the Ladies’ Recreation Club on 23 March 2026, will be postponed. The new concert date is currently being finalised and will be announced as soon as possible.

Once the new date is confirmed, we will contact all patrons with full details.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and are deeply grateful for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming you to this concert soon, where love’s joy and heartache will once again ignite the stage at the Ladies’ Recreation Club.

Born and raised in the vibrant cultural melting pot of Hong Kong, RSQ bursts with creativity, blending classical mastery with bold cross-genre collaborations—from mesmerizing dance and cutting-edge multimedia to captivating storytelling and even indie rock vibes. Since bursting onto the scene in 2013, RSQ has premiered over 60 daring new works and wowed audiences from Carnegie Hall to the French May Arts Festival. Their groundbreaking projects like Samson Young’s “Muted Situations” and animated music series with Kamishibai Studio redefine what a string quartet can be. 🎻 隆重介紹12月9日的演奏者 羅曼四重奏——本地最活躍且多元化的弦樂四重奏之一，持續突破突破弦樂四重奏界限的本地代表性演奏團體！

四位成員均於香港這一文化大熔爐中出生及成長，特別喜愛探索跨界別表演，曾與來自不同背景的藝術家合作，包括舞者、編舞家、多媒體藝術家、動畫師、沙畫師、詩人和獨立搖滾樂隊等。羅曼致力於創造非凡的音樂體驗，並不斷嘗試突破弦樂四重奏的界限。他們不時與備受讚譽的藝術家合作，共同策劃並參與多個融合藝術類別的項目，其中包括在曼徹斯特亞洲藝術三年展和巴塞爾藝術展香港展會展出、由屢獲殊榮的視覺和聲音藝術家楊嘉輝創作的裝置作品《消音狀況》，以及獲香港藝術發展局「藝術數碼平台計劃」資助、與紙芝居工作室的創意動畫製作團隊共同創作的一系列線上音樂動畫影片。

自 2013 年創立以來，羅曼迄今已為六十多首作品進行世界首演。羅曼曾到訪多個國家及地區舉行音樂會，包括美國紐約卡內基音樂廳和日本東京凸版音樂廳，獲得廣泛好評。他們亦受邀於香港藝術節、比爾斯飛躍演奏音樂節及法國五月等著名藝術節演出。最新委約作品包括陳啟揚的《逐月》（由香港作曲家及作詞家協會轄下的「CASH音樂基金」贊助），亦會於12月9日的演奏會中亮相✨

✨ Extending the magic beyond the concert night! ✨

Phoebe Tam and John Lee, our celebrated Hong Kong-born soprano and pianist, share the heartfelt inspiration behind their mesmerising performance at the Opening Gala Dinner. 🎶

Phoebe studied at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Mannes School of Music in New York under the Jockey Club Music and Dance Scholarship. She has captivated audiences worldwide with her operatic roles and concerts. For HKCMS’s 50th anniversary, Phoebe presented deeply personal and beautiful art songs by Richard Strauss and Rachmaninov, revealing the intimate, emotional side of chamber music beyond operatic stage roles.

She also delighted music lovers with special encores, including a touching English art song by an American female composer—highlighting the true, delicate expression of her artistry. 💖🎤

🎹 Introducing Warren Lee, hailed as "a first-rate artist" by American Record Guide and praised by The Straits Times for his “wonderful sense of colour and impeccably controlled articulation.” A Hong Kong-born Steinway Artist, Warren made his televised debut with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra at age six and won first prize at the 1995 Stravinsky Awards International Piano Competition and the Grand Prix Ivo Pogorelich.

Warren’s artistry has graced stages across five continents, including Carnegie Hall where critics called his recital “ingenious” and “compelling.” His discography boasts 11 acclaimed solo and chamber music albums, and he is featured on the Steinway Spirio catalogue.

Beyond performance, Warren is a respected cultural leader, educator, and award-winning composer. His accolades include the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award (Hong Kong), Associateship from the Royal Academy of Music, and the Ian Mininberg Distinguished Alumni Award from Yale School of Music.
