2013 Hong Kong Volunteers Milestone Review
December 20, 2013
Another record se
tting year, 2013 has proven to be a phenomenal milestone for the Hong Kong Volunteers. This year, with approximately two thousand member intakes and three hundred and fifty events held, the Hong Kong Volunteers has experienced an exponential growth from its previous years. A big hand to our 9 assistant organizers, who on average held about one event per day throughout the year, as well as our star achiever, Janet Wai, who has volunteered and organized in over 200 events since joining, and our double agent, King Lau, who volunteered and organized for over 100 events. This is no small feat, and the actions of these individuals have undoubtedly demonstrated the values of the Hong Kong Volunteers, and its concern for the local community. Furthermore, the Hong Kong Volunteers have won 2 medals from the Hong Kong Cleanup Challenge, and have coherently raised nearly one million dollars with the Hong Kong Hiking Meetup group for Oxfam. Other fundraising examples include six thousand dollars for the Syrian refugees, twenty five thousand dollars for the Philippine Typhoon Relief, and various miscellaneous activities such as Drinks for Books, Jumpstart Internship, Hong Kong Art Fair, just to name a few.
