Chinese-European Partnership for Development (HK) Do you want to go on a study trip to Europe and China? Well, here’s your chance! You will also be responsible for attracting corporate sponsors.

Do you want to organize a large-scale event but never had the opportunity to do so because you were not part of a student society? This year we are bringing to you the Chinese-European Partnership for Development, a joint-university study trip organized with Peking University 北京大学 (China) and Warsaw School of Economics (Poland)

The objective of this trip is to increase understanding and awareness

of the different countries through three aspects – politics, economics and culture. This will be achieved through visits to critical political and financial institutions, visits to global, reputable firms and also lectures from esteemed university professors. The two phases for this trip are:
25 March – 4 April (Poland and Germany) AND
10 – 21 September (Hong Kong and China)

Besides going on both study trips, you will also have the opportunity to plan it yourself! Participants will be involved in the detailed planning of the Hong Kong and China phase. The highlights of last year’s program are as follows:

Phase One 2011 (Organized by Warsaw School of Economics):
- Meetings with key political and business leaders (including Vice-Prime
Minister, President of the Warsaw Stock Exchange and former ministers)
- Guided tour through the Polish Parliament
- Guided tour through the Polish National Bank
- Guided tour through Auschwitz-Birkenau
- Guided tour through a functional coal mine
- Lecture at McKinsey and leadership workshops

Phase Two 2011 (Organized by us):
- Welcome party hosted by Dr Steven Dekrey, Director of HKUST EMBA
and MBA programs
- Lecture by Dr Eden Woon, HKUST Vice-President for Institutional
Advancement, Managing Director of Li & Fung Group (China)
- Firm visit to China Resources 華潤 , a large state-owned multi-brand
company with roots in Hong Kong
- High table dinner with senior management of China Resources 華潤
- Firm visit to Quanta Computer’s manufacturing city in Shanghai
- Discussion with Legislative Council Member Tong Ka-Wah, 湯家華

This year, we plan to create a brand new program by using existing ideas and incorporating creative concepts from you. With your valuable input, we are confident that this program will be a wonderful and amazing experience for all participants. Confirmed Itinerary 2012
