The Hong Kong Joint School Mathematics Society (HKJSMS) is a non-profit-making student organization established on 23 May, 1988 by a group of secondary school math enthusiasts, with the aim of stimulating interest in mathematics among students and cultivating friendship among schools. We hold a large variety of activities each year, including the Inter-school Mathematics Contest (ISMC), newsletter

publication, publication of mock papers, picnics, camps and exhibitions. We hope that, through these activities, we can broaden students' horizons in the wonderful world of mathematics.

🎉 Thank you to everyone who joined and supported the 38th ISMC!

This year marked a record‑breaking milestone for ISMC, with over 600 students from 70 secondary schools taking part. We were also delighted to welcome 70 participants from the Greater Bay Area and Macao, broadening the regional diversity of the competition and reinforcing ISMC’s position as one of the largest student‑led mathematics competitions in the region.

None of this would have been possible without the collective support of our community. A heartfelt thank you to our sponsor, Jane Street, and our venue sponsor, City University of Hong Kong. We are also grateful for the support from the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, the Macao Mathematics and Statistics Association, and Seeding’s Culture Youth Exchange Centre.

Thank you once again for your strong support. We look forward to seeing you at our future events and continuing to inspire young mathematical talent together! ✨

Pi Day is the perfect excuse for a celebration — and a productive committee meeting!

We’re just 2 weeks ahead of ISMC (March 28), and things are coming together fast.

The whole team has been working together amazingly, and we’re so excited to welcome 600 participants — including students from Hong Kong, Macau, and GBA, Chinese Mainland.

We are thrilled to invite you to the 38th ISMC!! Here are the details:
Date: 28th March 2026 (Saturday)
Time: 09:00-18:00
Venue: City University of Hong Kong
Eligibility: Full-time students below 19 years of age studying Secondary 6 (or equivalent) or below on 28th March 2026 are eligible for ISMC 2026.
Fee: Free of charge
We are grateful to CityUHK's College of Science and Department of Mathematics for kindly providing venue sponsor and to Jane Street for their generous donations, allowing this competition to be free of charge.
The event will also feature Jane Street’s Game Session, so be sure to come and join us on the day!

You’re invited to apply to Jane Street’s First-Year Trading and Technology Program!
Who: First-year undergraduate students
When: March 29th - April 1st, 2026
Where: Jane Street’s HKG Office
Deadline to apply: Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at 11:59pm HKT
This March, Jane Street is excited to host our First-year Trading and Technology Program (FTTP). We are inviting current first-year undergraduates to learn more about what we do and how we do it through a series of talks, games, activities, and events.
This is an incredible opportunity for first-year students planning to study math, physics, computer science, or other STEM-related majors. No prior knowledge of finance is necessary — if you like solving problems, have a curious mind, and want to see what a career at Jane Street might look like — this program is for you.
Attendees will arrive in Hong Kong on March 29th and depart on April 1st. Jane Street will cover all travel expenses to and from Hong Kong, including housing and meals.

The deadline to apply for FTTP is Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at 11:59pm HKT. All applicants will receive an update on their application on Friday, February 27th, regardless of when you submitted your application.
