To facilitate the connection between all engineering students, the Society and the Faculty, we aim at serving all members through diverse activities and comprehensive

welfare. Meanwhile, the Society will also act as a bridge between Members and the Faculty, collecting different opinions and expressing them to the University.

香港大學學生會工程學會成立於一九一三年, 是香港大學歷史最悠久的學生組織之一。一直以來, 工程學會都以服務工程同學為宗旨, 希望透過舉辦多元化的活動以及提供全面的福利, 促進同學, 工程學會及工程學院的聯繫; 與此同時, 工程學會也會作為同學和學院間的橋樑, 收集同學不同的意見, 並將其向校方反映。

1918年11月11日，隨著康邊停戰協定的簽署，第一次世界大戰終於落幕。至此，每年的11月11日，世界各地人民都會襟上虞美人花，以悼念為和平犧牲的生命。香港亦於1945年重光之後，將每年11月第2個星期日定為和平紀念日。

"If ye break faith with us who die / We shall not sleep, though poppies grow / In Flanders fields."

虞美人花繁殖力強，一戰時Flanders Fields為重要戰場之一，戰場上長滿了虞美人花。一戰軍醫John McCrae於主持戰友喪禮後，為紀念犧牲的戰友，寫下這首《In Flanders Fields》，令虞美人花成為紀念一戰捐軀之軍人與平民的象徵。

由11月3日（星期四）起至11月17日（星期四），香港大學學生會聯院會將於各幹事會會房門外擺放虞美人花。歡迎所有港大同學自行索取及配戴。各同學除了可直接向英國皇家義務軍人協會捐款外，亦能於各會房開放期間，將捐款放入捐款收集袋，由各會幹事代為轉交。

Armistice de 1918 was signed on 11 November 1918 to mark the end of World War I. Ever since, on the 11th day of November every year, people will wear a poppy to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives for peace. Since 1945, the second Sunday of November has been known as Remembrance Day in Hong Kong.

"If ye break faith with us who die / We shall not sleep, though poppies grow / In Flanders fields."

Poppies grow on the Flanders Fields, which used to be a battlefield in World War I. In remembrance of his comrades, World War I Canadian military doctor John McCrae wrote the famous poem "In Flanders Fields" after his comrade’s funeral. Ever since, the poppy has come to symbolise the commemoration of those who fought and lost their lives.

From 3 November 2022 (Thursday) until 17 November 2022 (Thursday), the Faculty Societies of HKUSU will be distributing poppies outside the Executive Committee Room or Society Room of each Faculty Society. All HKU students are welcome to take one and wear it. Apart from directly donating to the Royal British Legion, students may also put their donations in the collection bag during the opening hours of the Executive Committee Room or Society Room of each Faculty Society. The Executive Committee members will pass the donations to the Legion.

Time flies, the four years of university life will go by in the blink of eye. Turning a new page in life to become a university student, how do you plan your next 4 years?

You may probably meet some people with similar goals and aspirations among a sea of crowd.
You may also achieve personal breakthrough and self-fulfillment.
Or you may want to make a mark in the university.
Last but not least you may want to simply try something new!

Ideas like exhaustion, lack of sleep, poor results may pop up in your mind when someone asked you about your opinions on being an executive committee. In fact, these are just stereotypes. These negative views may make you hesitate, and you may miss opportunities to make improvements on yourself, precious memories about university life and a long-lasting friendship.

Why don’t give yourself a chance to know more? The Engineering Society, HKUSU is now recruiting executive committees, come our tea gathering and find our more!

終於考完mid-term喇！襯仲有一個月先完sem考試，快啲嚟我哋EnginSoc嘅welfare week放鬆吓啦～下個星期二至四可以嚟Main Library對出嘅Happy Park搵到我哋一齊玩遊戲，今次十分之榮幸邀請到特別嘉賓Brighten Music過嚟表演，時間係12:45-14:00，想聽歌嘅朋友就唔好錯過啦，而到時仲有得攞福利包同參加抽獎添！大家轉堂經過或者有時間就記得嚟join我地喇！我哋有好多份吸引獎品，仲有份神秘大獎等緊你地～所以記得嚟啊，話唔定你就會係嗰個幸運兒呢！

聯院會高桌晚宴🥂｜Joint Faculty High Table Dinner🥂

香港大學學生會教育學會和香港大學學生會工程學會將會舉行聯院會高桌晚宴。🤝現誠邀各院會的同學一同參與這一年一度的大型盛事！✨高桌晚宴是香港大學獨有的傳統活動，請把握千載難逢的機會，在大學生涯留下美好而深刻的回憶。🥰

聯院會高桌晚宴詳情如下：

費用：會員 $410，非會員 $450
衣著：正裝（本會將提供綠袍）
座位：不設劃位(八人一檯)

Dress Code: Formal Attire (Green gowns would be provided)

If you are interested, please kindly visit our application counter to fill in the Google form and purchase your tickets. 🎫 Tickets sales runs on a first-come-first-served basis and ends when the quota is reached. Each person may purchase at most four tickets. ✨Please be reminded that cash is the only acceptable payment method.
